The Bandit Menace

Bandits are one of the most common hostile human factions you'll encounter in the Zone. They are opportunistic, ruthless, and primarily driven by greed. Their strongholds are typically fortified with makeshift defenses, traps, and a large number of armed individuals. They prey on weaker Stalkers, ambushing travelers and raiding supply lines.

Identifying Bandit Strongholds

Bandit strongholds can be found in various locations, often in areas that offer natural cover or strategic advantage:

• Abandoned Factories and Warehouses: These large structures provide ample space for encampments and defenses.
• Ruined Settlements: Entire villages or parts of towns can be overrun and fortified by bandits.
• Roadside Checkpoints: They often set up makeshift barricades on major roads to extort or rob travelers.
• Underground Bunkers and Tunnels: Some bandits utilize subterranean locations for more secure bases.

Infiltrating and Assaulting Strongholds

Approaching a bandit stronghold requires careful planning:

• Reconnaissance: Observe the stronghold from a distance. Identify patrol routes, guard positions, entry points, and potential traps.
• Stealthy Approach: If possible, use stealth to infiltrate the perimeter, taking out isolated guards quietly.
• Coordinated Assault: If stealth is not an option, a direct assault might be necessary. Use cover, suppressive fire, and grenades to break through their defenses. If you have companions, coordinate your attacks.
