Walkthrough
- 1Find the thin sheet on the side of the wall. Equip the knife and use the command to cut through it while close to it. Squeeze through the narrow opening.
- 2Examine the door along the left wall for a cutscene. Since the door is locked, leave this section of the basement.
- 3Walk to the back of the basement and pick up the ++GARAGE REMOTE++ from the top of the water pump. A note is left under the remote.
- 4Objective Update: Drain the water in the basement.
- 5Exit the basement by going back up the stairs. Walk back outside of the house and use the garage remote on the garage.
- 6Objective Update: Find some gas to power the pump.
- 7As the garage door opens, a Lurker will move out. Be ready to fight it.
- 8Pick up the ++STEEL PIPE++ from the shelf in the garage. Arm it and use it to pry open the door on the glowing cabinet at the end of the garage by tapping the A button.
- 9Pick up the ++EMPTY GAS CAN++ from inside the cabinet.
- 10Examine the COMBAT TRAINING MANUAL to the right of the garage.
- 11Objective Update: Look for a way to fill the gas can.
- 12If this is your second playthrough, pick up the ++CIRCULAR SAW++ from the left table in the back of the garage to receive the "Rising Tension" achievement (25G).
Tips
- Do not cut the sheet on the side of the wall yet. If you turn off Alex's flashlight and look through the cloth sheet across from the staircase, you can see a figure (Alex's father). Pushing in on RS near the sheet reveals him more clearly. Cutting the sheet later reveals a mannequin, but this is your first glimpse of Alex's father if it's your first playthrough. You can cut the sheet later for story purposes.
