Defeat Zelenin, the final boss of the Chaos path in Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux. Includes boss attacks, weaknesses, and Grus East walkthrough.

  • Level 77 or higher with demons of similar levels.
  • The Dragon Ring can negate one hit from Requiem.

Boss Attacks:

  • Wave of Death: A powerful hit-all Physical attack.
  • Megido Storm: A powerful hit-all Elec spell.
  • Right Hand: Similar to Luster Candy; counter with Dekaja or offset with Debilitate or Jihad.
  • Requiem: An instant kill that pierces Tetraja, Expel null, and Curse null. Its success rate is low if buffs/debuffs are properly applied. Targets all party members.
  • Sinner's Song: Almighty damage plus a possible charm to all party members.
  • Regular attack: Hits all party members.
Walkthrough
  1. 1
Begin by buffing your party, preferably with Luster Candy.
  2. 2
Debuff Zelenin, preferably with Debilitate or the endgame attack skill Jihad (which combines huge Almighty damage and Debilitate).
  3. 3
Maintain buff/debuff status at +3/-3, though Jihad may push debuffs beyond this; reapply stat debuffs as needed.
  4. 4
With buffs and debuffs active, Zelenin becomes manageable. The main threats are Requiem and Sinner's Song, which have low success rates when buffs/debuffs are active. Prioritize debuffing her agility.
  5. 5
Attack Zelenin using Physical, Almighty, or any element other than Elec.
  6. 6
After she uses Requiem, she becomes weak to Physical for several rounds. Use this opportunity to spam Co-Ops with physical attacks or use high-end physical skills.
Tips
  • The Dragon Ring can negate one hit from Requiem, though it has a low chance of hitting if buffs and debuffs are properly applied.
  • After defeating Zelenin, the Chaos ending plays, and you can save your game to start a New Game+ with bonuses and retained items.
  • For Grus East on New Game+, you must first complete the "Marebito, the foreign god" EX Mission for the Gate Search E Main App.
  • You need the [Cornucopia] rare Forma, found in Grus 1F original area if not already obtained. Look for a gate search portal in the northwest part of that floor near a Strike Team corpse.
  • Cornucopia unlocks the Unlock E Main App, allowing access to a door in Grus Phase Shift A, leading to Grus B1F.
  • A new EX Mission, "The mother goddess' gravestone," is obtained from a suspicious Strike Team member in front of this previously impassable door.
  • The "Red Carpet" Sub App is highly recommended for navigating Grus B1F and B2F due to the complex layout and to avoid random encounters.
  • In Grus B2F, a terminal is in the center. The northwest stairs lead to Grus B1F to grab [Sacrifice x1] and then pitfall back. Take the southeast stairs back up to Grus B1F.
