Advanced strategies involve leveraging the Nemesis system, exploiting enemy weaknesses, and utilizing environmental hazards to your advantage. Effective use of stealth, combat skills, and your wraith abilities can turn the tide of any battle and help you dominate Sauron's forces.

Dominating the Nemesis System

The Nemesis system is the heart of Shadow of Mordor. Understanding how to manipulate it is key to advanced play. Target specific Orcs to promote them, creating powerful Warchiefs and Overlords who will remember your encounters. Exploit their fears and hatreds to make them more vulnerable or to turn them against each other. For instance, if an Orc fears Fire, lure them into a trap near an explosive barrel or a burning brazier. Conversely, if they have a hatred for Brand, use your Brand ability strategically to sow dissent among their ranks.

Combat Prowess and Skill Synergies

While basic combat is straightforward, advanced players will want to master the flow of combat. Learn to chain executions, parries, and dodges seamlessly. Utilize your Wraith abilities, such as the Wraith Stalk (stealth takedown) and the Wraith Flash (stun), to control crowds and isolate dangerous targets. Experiment with different combat upgrades to find synergies. For example, combining the Shadow Strike ability with the Execution skill can allow you to quickly eliminate a powerful enemy from a distance.

Environmental Exploitation

Mordor is a dangerous place, and you can use its hazards to your benefit. Exploit the many explosive barrels scattered throughout the environment to deal massive damage to groups of enemies. Lure beasts like Graugs and Caragors into combat with Orcs, as they can cause significant chaos and casualties. Use verticality to your advantage by climbing to higher ground to rain down arrows or to initiate stealth attacks.

Advanced Stealth and Infiltration

Stealth is not just for avoiding combat; it's a powerful offensive tool. Use the environment for cover, and employ distractions like throwing stones to lure enemies away from their patrols. The Dagger of the Wraith allows for silent takedowns from behind, and the Shadow Brand ability can turn enemy Orcs into your allies, creating diversions or even assassinating key targets from within their own ranks. Mastering the timing of your stealth attacks can allow you to clear entire encampments without raising an alarm.

Mission and Objective Mastery

For main missions and side objectives, consider the most efficient approach. Some missions may benefit from a direct assault, while others are best tackled with a stealthy infiltration. For example, during a mission to assassinate a Warchief, you might choose to first eliminate his bodyguards using stealth and then confront him directly, or you could use the Nemesis system to weaken him by killing his captains beforehand.
