These abilities are unlocked using Ability Points, which are earned through leveling up via XP gained from defeating Uruks and completing missions. Gaining Power, through Power Struggles or by defeating Uruks, is crucial for unlocking new Ability Tiers, expanding the range of skills available.

Unlocking New Abilities

As you progress through Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, you'll earn several key resources: XP, Power, and Mirian. XP is gained by defeating Uruks and completing missions, and leveling up grants you Ability Points. These points are used to unlock new abilities. There are five Ability Tiers in total, with one available from the start. To unlock the remaining Tiers, you need to increase Talion's Power. Power is gained by winning Power Struggles or by defeating Uruks, with the amount of Power earned directly correlating to the Power Rating of the Uruk you defeat.

Mirian is another vital resource. It can be used to upgrade your weapons and improve certain attributes like Health, Focus, and Elf-Shot. Once you've unlocked all available rune slots for a particular weapon using Mirian, you'll gain access to a powerful, game-breaking ability for that weapon. These include infinite Executions for the sword, infinite Elf-Shot and Focus for the bow, and infinite Stealth Finishers for the dagger, though these effects are temporary.

• Strike from Above: This allows Talion to perform a devastating aerial attack on enemies below him, useful for initiating combat from stealth or dealing with groups from elevated positions.
