Stretching Bridges: To extend bridge length, allow the builder to pause after laying twelve tiles, then move for one second before building again. This sacrifices height for length, useful for crossing wide gaps but not recommended for reaching high ledges from low positions. It can be essential when specific pit alignments require maximum bridge span with limited builders.

Keeping the Weasels at Bay: When drowning or avoiding weasels is impossible, dig a hole deep enough to contain them. Then, build to block them off or dig through to eliminate them. If blocking, the Lemming can climb out to safety. This tactic is occasionally necessary.

Surveying the Landscape: Before starting a level, pause the game (P key) and rotate the view to survey the entire map. This allows you to plan your approach before the Lemmings begin moving.

Today, the Digger Will Be Playing the Part of the Basher: In situations requiring climbing thin walls or digging through them when a basher (a Lemming with a pickaxe) is unavailable, use the digger. This technique is typically reserved for near the end of the game.

A Bomber Granted Life at the Last Second: This is a glitch exploit necessary for at least one level, "Two Laps Finale." Bomb a blocker, then immediately select the builder function and keep the cursor on the blocker. During the brief moment the Lemming cowers before exploding (hands on head), click to nullify the bomb and have him start building, effectively saving him.
