Stuck on the tricky Defense: 4 (each) enemies in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door? Learn the only strategy that works and how to get past the Shhwonk Fortress!
Alright, so you've run into these spiky guys, the Defense: 4 (each) enemies. They're a real pain because they're immune to fire and, get this, they'll actually hurt you if you get too close – like if you try to hammer them. Don't even think about it! The only way you're getting past these guys is by using a POW Block. Seriously, that's it. Make sure you have one handy before you engage.
After you deal with them, a gate will open up. Head through it, and keep an eye out for an Inn Coupon and a Fire Flower in the next area. Definitely grab that Fire Flower, it's super useful!
Shhwonk Fortress
Once you're inside the Shhwonk Fortress, make sure to hit that Save Block. You'll then come across a Thwomp who seems to be guarding the Sun & Moon Stones. Turns out, to get past him, you've gotta play a little game show!
The Thwomp will quiz you, and you need to answer five questions correctly to pass. But here's the catch: if you get three questions wrong, you'll have to battle some Clefts. If you happen to have a spare POW Block, you might even want to *try* to get three wrong – it makes the Cleft battle a lot easier, and you'll still get through!
Shhwonk Fortress Game Show Answers:
- Question #1: Stone Keys

- Question #3: Kroop
- Question #4: Hooktail Castle
- Question #5: Go through a pipe
- Question #6: Koopa Troopas
- Question #7: Question 7
Miniboss: 2x Clefts
If you mess up three times on the quiz, you'll have to fight these guys. They don't have much HP (only 3 each) and their Attack is just 1, so they're not too tough, especially if you've saved your POW Block!
