Begin the battle with Power Lift.

Have Goombella use Rally Wink.

Each turn, Mario should use Power Bounce on Kammy Koopa until she is defeated.

Once Kammy Koopa is KO'ed (knocked out), shift your focus to Bowser.

Repeat the Power Bounce strategy on Bowser.

Heal with Sweet Feast when needed.

Try to use few items during this initial battle.

After the battle, follow Grodus and Peach through the door behind the throne.

This room is a long stairway. At the start, get the Jammin' Jelly from the block and use the Heart Block.

Head down the stairs. At the bottom, get the Ultra Shroom and save.

Re-arrange your badges, removing anything useless.

Tips

Kammy Koopa has lower Defense than Bowser and tends to heal and mess with stats, so she should be taken out first.
Saying yes when the Shadow Queen asks you to be her servant results in a Game Over.
Saying no results in the final boss fight.
