Main Quest

Begin on a ship, customize your character, and experience a cut-scene.

After a ship crash cut-scene, you control your Main Character. Use the left joystick to move and learn basic controls, including using a grappling hook to climb walls.

Proceed to an island/beach. You will not have a weapon initially. Learn about stealth, running, and the Hookshot. Check your map and minimap (a small in-game map) for the marker.

As you approach the marker, the Field Master appears, and a dinosaur attacks the Handler. Escape to the Hunter Headquarters.

After a cut-scene, you will be shown your room, item box, and canteen. Learn about the smithy and commander station.

Speak to the Handler to receive your first Slaying Quest.

Slayer Quest - Jagras of the Ancient Forest: Hunt and kill 7/7 Jagras within 50 minutes. You are allowed three faints (losing all Hit Points). Follow the marker to area two, where you will find a pack of Jagras. Attack them; you can defeat 1-3 in the first encounter. If they scatter, the Field Master will call you. Jagras are located near Flash Flies in a back cave. Using Spread Ammunition is effective against packs of smaller monsters like Jagras.

A Kestodon Kerfuffle: Accept this assigned quest from the Handler near the Canteen. It is recommended to level up armor or weapons beforehand. Attack Kestodons near the water in the Ancient Forest area. Follow marker point One (#1) to the beach/shore and defeat the remaining Kestodons.

Great Jagras Hunt - BOSS: This quest follows the Kestodon Kerfuffle. Inspect footprints to gain points and locate the Great Jagras. Follow the Scout flies (small glowing insects that guide you). The battle is estimated to take 15-20 minutes for new players. Use health potions, Mega Potions, and First Aid Medicines, accessible via the hot command bar or directional pad. After defeating the Great Jagras, new armors and completion rewards become available.
