Learn how to take down the fearsome Molten Tigrex in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Discover its weaknesses, attacks, and strategies for this challenging subspecies.

Alright, so you've heard about the legendary Tigrex, right? The one that's basically a walking, roaring tornado of pure aggression? Well, imagine that, but then crank it up to eleven and add some explosive flair. That's Molten Tigrex for you – it's like the game designers decided Tigrex wasn't quite enough and threw in the explosive power of Brachydios and Teostra for good measure. This isn't just a tougher version; it's a whole new level of 'oh crap, I need better gear'!

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Elemental: Water, Ice
  • Enraged Mode: Front body becomes softer, back legs and tail become harder.
  • Normal Mode: Head and front legs are hard; head becomes soft after breaking.
  • Breakable Parts: Shares all breakable parts with Tigrex and Brute Tigrex.
  • Roars: All damaging roars can be negated with High Grade Earplugs.

Attacks & Strategy:

  • Molten Tigrex doesn't have entirely new moves, but every single one of its attacks now comes with a side of explosive power, similar to Teostra's Blastblight. Keep an eye out for any red powder clouds – those are bad news!
  • When it gets really angry (enraged), Molten Tigrex is a terrifying combination of Tigrex's relentless charges and Brute Tigrex's super-sonic roars. It can charge up to four times in a row, and it's not uncommon for it to chain its semicircle roar directly into a super-sonic roar, and it can do this up to three times back-to-back. Seriously, it's a whirlwind of destruction.
  • Because it's a rare subspecies, expect it to be way more aggressive and hit a lot harder than you're used to. Don't even think about going in unprepared.
  • Tip: If you're struggling with its roars, definitely consider crafting armor with High Grade Earplugs. It'll save you a ton of damage and frustration.
  • Tip: When it's enraged, try to focus your attacks on its front body. It's much softer then, meaning your hits are less likely to bounce off. Just be aware that its back legs and tail get tougher during this phase.
  • Tip: If you manage to break its head when it's not enraged, it'll stop deflecting attacks, making it a much easier target.
