1-star Quests

When you arrive at Val Habar, talk to the Caravaneer. He will offer you a role as a hunter in his caravan.

Accept the offer; it is mandatory.

The Caravaneer will assign tutorial quests to teach you the basics.

Inside your new house, use the red item box to manage your armor and weapons.

Choose your starting weapon from the basic forms provided.

Talk to the Guildmarm (dressed in green) and accept the quest "Steak Your Ground".

Embark on the quest by going past the blue item box and pressing A.

Upon arriving at the Ancestral Steppe, go to the Base Camp.

Take all supply items from the blue box, including the BBQ Spit.

In Area 1, kill one or two Aptonoth by pressing X to unsheathe your weapon.

Press A to carve the slain Aptonoth to obtain Raw Meat.

Use the BBQ Spit to cook the Raw Meat.

Cook the meat until it turns golden-brown twice, indicated by the end of the cooking music or the bone turning golden-brown once. This is a Well-Done Steak. Press A to stop.

If you stop too early, you get a Rare Steak; too late results in a Burnt Steak.

Return to Base Camp and deliver 1 Well-Done Steak to the red box.

Talk to the Guildmarm again and accept the quest "A Winning Combination".

Gather Herbs from Area 1, Blue Mushrooms from Area 8, and Honey from Area 6.

Combine a Potion with Honey to create a Mega Potion. Potions are made by combining Herbs and Blue Mushrooms.

Use the combine menu (START button, then Combo List or freely choose items) to make the necessary items.

Deliver 1 Mega Potion to the red box.
