Walkthrough

    After cutscenes, proceed through the train, climbing over containers.

    Locate DATA STORAGE #2 on the right side of the train before engaging enemies.

    Approach Sundowner and Jetstream Sam for a scripted fight. Losing is expected.

    After the fight, you'll be on a beach. You can slice up most objects for fun.

    Use Ninja Run to climb the wall's platforms on the right side to proceed.

    You will encounter three cyborgs in an ambush. This is an opportunity to practice Blade Mode's Zandatsu technique.

    To perform Zandatsu: stagger an enemy, enter Blade Mode, hit the red square prompt with a swipe, and press B (Xbox) or Square (PS3) to rip out fuel cells for health, FC, and bonus points.

    Parry enemy attacks and experiment with Raiden's moveset. Upgrades will make S-rankings easier later.

Metal Gear Ray's Attacks:

  • RAY BEAM: A horizontal beam attack used twice (right then left). Dodge by not standing too close and jumping over it.
  • FACE SMASH: Used after the first beam attack. Ray tilts its head back and smashes forward. Move away from its head into open space. Damage Ray while its face is stuck.
  • BOMB DROP: Ray hovers its arm and drops bombs. Enter Blade Mode and slice them all. Use Y+X (Xbox 360) or Square+Triangle (PS3) for faster slicing. Bombs drop twice.
  • FACE/BODY SMASH: Ray leaps back and slams its head into the building. The left side of the area is safe. Damage Ray while its head is stuck.
  • ARM SMASH: Ray smashes its arm vertically into the ground. Move left or right to dodge.
  • ROCKET LAUNCH: Ray launches rockets indicated by red circles. Cut them down with weak slashes while Ninja Running to destroy them and gain Repair Nanopaste.
  • TURRET FIRE: Low damage but annoying. Ninja running deflects or dodges shots.
