Learn how to refill Raiden's FC gauge, master parrying and blocking, and dodge attacks in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Part 4. Includes boss fight strategy for Metal Gear Ray.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
    Refilling Raiden's FC Gauge:
    • Repair Units dropped by enemies restore some FC.
  2. 2
Repair Nanopaste items drop quite a lot of FC.
  3. 3
A successful Zandatsu strike fully replenishes the FC bar.
  4. 4
Dealing regular damage to foes slowly regenerates FC.
  5. 5
    Parrying/Blocking:
    • Parrying is crucial for higher difficulties. On Easy, it's automatic; otherwise, you must perform it manually.
  6. 6
Incoming attacks are indicated by red flashes. To parry, press the left analog stick in the attack's direction simultaneously with X (Xbox 360) or Square (PS3).
  7. 7
The left analog stick cannot be held down to parry; release and press again for subsequent attacks.
  8. 8
A well-timed parry stuns the enemy, while a mistimed one results in a block.
  9. 9
Practicing parrying early is recommended, especially for 'Very Hard' and 'Revengeance' difficulties.
  10. 10
    Dodging Attacks:
    • Attacks indicated by a yellow flash cannot be parried or blocked.
  11. 11
Avoid these attacks by using Ninja Run (moving with the left analog stick) or by pressing X+A (Xbox 360) or Square+X (PS3) along with the left analog stick.
  12. 12
    FILE R-00: GUARD DUTY:
    • After a cutscene, you'll face PMC soldiers. Practice parrying using light attacks.
  13. 13
Proceed to the grate gate, cut it open, and continue.
  14. 14
    BOSS BATTLE: METAL GEAR RAY:
    • Stay close to Ray's legs and attack them.
  15. 15
Ray may jump away; chase after it while dodging its attacks.
  16. 16
Cut the armor from Ray's legs (twice per leg).
  17. 17
After weakening a leg, Raiden enters Blade Mode. Carve the leg's armor or destroy one of Ray's turrets.
  18. 18
Repeat for both legs. Ray will then perform an arm smash attack triggering a Quick Time Event (QTE).
  19. 19
    QTE (Xbox 360): Y+B, X (tap), Y (tap), X (tap).
  20. 20
QTE (PS3): Triangle+Circle, Square (tap), Triangle (tap), Square (tap).
  21. 21
    Metal Gear Ray's Attacks:
    • ROCKET LAUNCH: Ray fires rockets into an area indicated by red circles on the ground. Stay out of these areas. Rockets can be ignored or destroyed.
  22. 22
TAIL SWIPE: Ray sweeps its tail across the area. Jump over it or parry the attack. Parrying allows for Blade Mode and potentially cutting off Ray's tail for the 'Steel Tail' trophy/achievement.
  23. 23
GUNFIRE: Not heavily damaging, but can interrupt actions.
Tips
  • To unlock the 'Steel Tail' trophy/achievement, stand in front of Ray, parry its tail attack, and slice off the tail in Blade Mode.
  • The walkthrough is written for Hard difficulty but is applicable to Normal and Easy. A separate walkthrough for Very Hard and Revengeance difficulties will be available later.
