Navigate through Part 40 of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne with our detailed walkthrough. Discover secrets, understand character motivations, and uncover plot details.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Upon arriving at the Police Station's Lock-up Cell, proceed through a room with a TV and up staircases to trigger a cutscene with Jim Bravura. He will advise you to "stay true to the badge" and "solve the case."
  2. 2
Continue through the next passage and examine the table near the staircase to find a recording device. Using the 'Use' key will play a recording of Max Payne's inner monologue: "The cleaners, Annie Finn, Senator Gate, Mr. Corcoran, they were just peripheral noise surrounding the case. Winterson's murder was what it was all about, The cost of passion, my courtship of Mona Sax. My case, my crime. It wasn't about finding the killer. I was it. It was about looking for a deserving patsy to pin the blame on."
  3. 3
Later, during a dream sequence, you will find yourself back at the Police Station with Detective Winterson and Mona Sax. Proceed past them into Max Payne's cubicle.
  4. 4
Examine the whiteboard in Max's cubicle to find the message: "WAKE UP!!! YOU ARE IN A COMPUTER GAME!!!" This references a similar event in Max Payne 1's Part 3, Prologue.

Chapter 1: Too Stubborn to Die

  1. In the hospital morgue, inspect the blackboard near Detective Winterson's body to discover her age is 42, listed under "Age" on the fourth line of the left side.
  2. After acquiring a weapon and clearing the initial room of thugs, enter the room on the right side of the corridor. This room contains control panels on the left and cabinets on the right.
  3. Approach the control panel opposite the door you entered through. You'll find painkillers on a table and a small screen on the far right of the panel. Press the 'Use' key twice on the screen to witness Jim Bravura undergoing surgery. Max Payne will comment: "Bravura was too stubborn to die. I had to buy him time, draw the commandos after me, get out of the hospital."

Chapter 2: On a Crash Course

  1. If Mike the Cowboy survived Part 1 Chapter 2, he will taunt you via microphone throughout this level. Otherwise, a random thug will take his place.
  2. There's a mention that Mona Sax is believed to be tearing down the place and attacking Vladimir Lem's boss. It's suggested she was responsible for wounding Vladimir Lem's left hand earlier, referencing his injury in Part 1 Chapter 2.
  3. At the beginning of the level, a thug mentions, "Is the killer chick with him? The one that shot boss in the arm?" This likely refers to Vladimir Lem's injured left hand, which he attributed to a "hot date" in Part 1 Chapter 2. A TV show in the third dream level also depicts Mona Sax shooting Vladimir Lem's left hand.

Chapter 3: A Mob-War

  1. In the Dick Justice TV series, if you watch the TV in an old bum's house, Dick Justice remarks, "I had a permanent, constipated grimace on my face." This is a nod to a common criticism of Max Payne's facial appearance in the first game.
