Explore the arsenal, including the Sniper Rifle and Dragunov, and essential gameplay tips for Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.
Walkthrough
- 1Familiarize yourself with the available weapons. The Kalashnikov has a good rate of fire, is accurate, and effective against multiple enemies, with a clip size of 30 and 300 total ammo.
- 2Note the Sniper Rifle, a favorite for long-distance engagements using its scope. It has a clip size of 5 and 50 total ammo, but is a liability at short ranges with a slow rate of fire. It first appears in Part I, Chapter 4.
- 3The Dragunov serves as the Sniper Rifle's sidekick, offering a better rate of fire but less accuracy. It has a clip size of 10 and 100 total ammo. Only Mona Sax uses this weapon, and it first appears in Part II, Chapter 4.
Tips
- Always collect weapons after defeating an enemy.
- Explore all cabinets, rooms, crates, and out-of-the-way places for useful items.
- Utilize painkillers and bullet time (which automatically refills when not in use) extensively.
- If your bullet time is depleted, wait for it to refill before advancing.
- Unlike the previous game, shootdodges are less effective. Bullet time is now designed to complement standing and gunning, allowing you to face multiple enemies simultaneously. Attempting to shootdodge in such situations can lead to failure.
- Avoid rolling sideways, backward, or forward as you cannot shoot while doing so and they are not worth the risk.
- Make frequent quick saves, especially after intense firefights or before entering unknown areas.
- Before entering a room, peek through doorways from the left or right side to assess potential dangers.
- If facing numerous enemies, observe their movements and plan your strategy.
- If an enemy is holding a position and you cannot attack, use cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects), reveal yourself briefly to draw their fire, and then attack when they are reloading.
- If an enemy approaches, let them come closer, take cover, and attack when they are near.
- If an enemy is suppressed (taking damage but unable to return fire), continue firing with a rapid-fire weapon until they are eliminated.
- When using walls or doors as cover against charging enemies, adopt a hit-and-run tactic: step out, shoot once or twice, retreat to cover, and repeat until all enemies are down.
- Once an enemy spots you, be prepared for immediate action.
- If you are in a disadvantageous position, you can lure enemies into following you, then take cover and attack them as they approach.
- Always aim for the head for maximum effectiveness.
- Keep a close watch on your ammunition and bullet time levels.
- Turn off bullet time immediately after defeating enemies to conserve its duration.
- Make it a habit to reload your weapon after every firefight to ensure you are prepared.
- Use the environment to your advantage by taking cover behind sofas, chairs, walls, doors, or pillars during combat.
- You do not need to engage every enemy directly; some can be eliminated by shooting nearby explosive objects like propane tanks, laser tripwires, or explosive drums.
