    There are two main whirlpools to discover while surfing on the ocean.

    Whirlpool 1 (Southeast): Located 4 screens east and 2 screens south of the East Beanbean starting area. Entering this whirlpool takes you underwater.

    Dig with Luigi to find 4 Chuckle Beans.

    Swim west over spikes to find a 5th Chuckle Bean.

    Swim south and drop to a lower area.

    In the west room, use High Jump to reach an upper ledge.

    Go up the yellow pipe to reach Gwarhar Lagoon.

    To return to the ocean: go east 1 screen and north 1 screen, then use the Ultra Hammer to clear the black rock blocking the surfboard slot.
  • Whirlpool 2 (Near Joke's End): Located 1 screen south and 1 screen west from the land strip of Joke's End. Entering this whirlpool also takes you underwater.
    1. Swim south and go up the yellow pipe to a small island.
    2. Talk to Monty Mole to receive a 1-Up Super.
    3. Return to the underwater area and swim south to the next room.
    4. Use Mario's Firebrand (a special ability) to light an alcove, clearing the reef.
    5. Swim to the west end of the room, then into the south area.
    6. Near the S.S. Chuckola wreckage, swim up ledges and over the ship.
    7. Exit west to reach East Beanbean.
    Tips
    • Getting sucked into a whirlpool will transport you underwater.
    • Be prepared to use specific Bros. Attacks like High Jump and abilities like Firebrand in these underwater sections.
    • The Ultra Hammer is required to clear a path back to the ocean from the first whirlpool's destination.
