Toadtown Square

Guide to Toadtown Square in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Find items, talk to Toads, and learn about Save Albums and inventory management.

You will arrive in Toadtown Square, an open plaza where you can interact with various Toads to learn about commands and other game mechanics. Explore the west and east sides of the plaza. On the west side, jump onto the lower plateaus and then to the higher ones to find chests containing 2 Mushrooms each. In the eastern area, pick up a visible regular Mushroom. A nearby kid will ask if you found it for him; selecting 'Yes' allows you to keep the Mushroom and receive a Super Mushroom from him. In the northwest area, a mushroom kid has lost something. Talk to him, then travel south until an action icon appears. Pick up the found item (the 'precious' item) and return it to the kid to receive a 1-Up Mushroom.

In the northeast region, you'll encounter a Koopa who asks about Bowser's direction. You can choose any direction, but telling him Bowser went north is the straightforward option. Jump to the north ledge to find Luigi. Proceed to the second area of Toadtown Square. Here, speak with some characters to learn about Save Albums, which are used to save your game by hitting them from below. Use the first Save Album you find to save your progress. As you approach the exit, an older Toad will give you a suitcase, which serves as your inventory carrier. He will also give you 100 Coins. He will then ask if Luigi is joining the trip; he will say no.

Continue to the next area and board the Koopa Cruiser. Bowser will notice Luigi and offer to take him along. Luigi will attempt to flee but is pushed forward by Bowser's Baddies. After the baddies board, Bowser initiates lift-off. During the runway sequence, Bowser will grab Luigi with a mechanical hand, and they will depart for Beanbean Kingdom.
