Alright, so you've landed back on solid ground in a pretty remote spot. Princess Peach, Toadsworth, and Mario are all waiting for Luigi, who eventually shows up in a rather ungraceful face-plant. Unfortunately for him, he gets sucked right into an underground cavern! An exclamation block pops up above ground just before he disappears. Prince Peasley makes a brief, snobby appearance and then bails, leaving Peach and Toadsworth to head back to the castle. Now it's all on Mario to save Luigi!

Walkthrough

First things first, with Mario, head northwest and smash that black rock blocking your path. Then, make your way to the northern area.

Here, you can use the Save Album if you want to save your progress. If you feel like grabbing some goodies, head all the way west. You'll find three blocks containing some Coins, a 1-Up Mushroom, and a Super Mushroom.

If you're not interested in the extra items, or after you've grabbed them, take the left path back into the south area.

Find the exclamation block and hit it! This will lower a wall to the north, opening up the way forward.

You'll see a scene with Luigi in the cave, only to be found by Popple. Popple orders Rookie to tie Luigi up, and then the scene switches back to Mario.

Head back to the previous area and continue north through the opening you just made. Then, go west into the new room.

In this new area, head west across the barren landscape. You'll have to fight through some Dry Bones along the way.

At the far end, jump up the ledges and drop down the yellow pipe.

You're now in a cave below. Go into the north room to proceed.

Light the unlit torch using the Firebrand to open the path ahead.

Continue forward, going up some ledges. Use the Save Album here before moving on to the next room.

You'll find Luigi tied up in this room! Use the Firebrand when prompted to free him.

Popple shows up again, this time with his new buddy, Birdo. After some dialogue, you'll have to fight them! Check the Bosses section for help with this battle.

Once you've won, Birdo will knock Popple away and then leave herself.

Now, for the brothers, exit through the yellow pipe in the back.

Outside, head south and exit Teehee Valley. From there, make your way south and then west to reach Beanbean Castle Town.

Tips

Don't forget to hit those blocks for extra items before proceeding! A 1-Up Mushroom can be a lifesaver.
Make sure to save your game at the Save Album before entering new areas, especially before the boss fight.
The Firebrand is key to progressing here, so make sure you have it equipped or ready to use!
