Master Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's combat by understanding all character stats: HP, MP, Attack, Defense, Magic, Willpower, Agility, Range, Critical Hit Rate, and Evasion.

There are two categories of stats in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: those that change with growth and those that don’t. Growth stats increase with level, Job Rank, or gear, including HP, MP, Attack, Defense, Magic, Willpower, Agility, and Range. Gear and buffs/debuffs primarily influence Critical Hit Rate and Evasion.

Health Points (HP): Measure how much damage a character can take before being KO’d. A KO’d character cannot act unless revived. A full party KO results in losing the battle.

Mental Points (MP): Powers skills, with costs typically ranging from 10-65. Running out of MP prevents skill use. MP is restored by basic attacks, certain gear, or consumables. Unlike HP, running out of MP is not catastrophic.

Physical attacks (including hybrid elemental skills) use Attack to determine damage, which Defense mitigates. These attacks can be dodged by characters with high Evasion.

Attack: Increases damage for physical attacks (blunt, blade, gun), including those with elemental components. Opposed by Defense.

Defense: Reduces damage taken from physical attacks (blunt, blade, gun), regardless of elemental component. Opposed by Attack.

Magical attacks cannot be dodged but cannot Critically Hit. These include skills with fire, electric, ice, or staff icons.

Magic: Determines damage for magic skills (elemental without physical icons, or non-elemental staff skills). Not subject to Evasion. Opposed by Willpower.

Willpower: Reduces damage taken from magic attacks. Opposed by Magic.

Agility: Determines turn order in combat. Higher Agility means acting sooner; lower Agility means acting later. Significant Agility differences can allow a character to act twice before another.

Range: Affects movement range on the battlefield, influencing positioning for bonuses like back attacks or proximity damage. While movement range increases slightly with level, there is no range limit on attacks or skills.

Critical Hit Rate and Evasion are influenced by gear and buffs, not leveling.

Critical Hit Rate: Determines the chance for a physical attack to critically hit for significantly increased damage.

Evasion: Determines the chance to dodge physical attacks.
