When you arrive on Dondoko Island in like a dragon infinite wealth, you'll receive a spear for a fishing mini-game. You can catch fish without leaving the mini-game, and there's no limit to spear uses. Fish respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) daily, so you'll need to wait until the next day after clearing a spot. Fish are primarily for selling at the shop for Dondoko bucks, though the Dondoko Scuttler can be used for souvenirs. Catching fish also grants popularity points, with repeated catches increasing a fish's rank and your points.

There are seven designated fishing spots, each marked with a fishing sign and showing fish shadows in the water. You can unlock these spots as follows:

1. Dondoko Beach: Unlocked on Arrival
2. Mukku Beach: Unlocked on Arrival
3. Dondoko Farm River: Resort Rank Two
4. Dondoko Farm Ocean: Resort Rank Two
5. Lake: Resort Rank Three
6. Meadow Bridge: Resort Rank Four
7. Forest Bridge: Resort Rank Four
8. Forest Waterfall: Resort Rank Four

Note that the 'Lake' fishing area is on the bridge between Gachapin Beach and the actual small puddle of water. The forest unlocks two areas, one by the waterfall; to access it, climb down the ladder and swim to the small island with a deck. Upgrading your spear is recommended to catch fish faster.

Fish come in four sizes, requiring more spear hits for larger ones: smallest takes one hit, extra-large takes four, and the Golden Shark takes six hits.

There are 28 different fish on Dondoko Island, some area-locked. Larger fish shadows generally mean higher sell prices. You cannot take these fish off the island. As you catch fish repeatedly, their popularity rank increases, raising their sell price. All fish can be caught at any time of day.

How to Catch The Golden Shark on Dondoko Island

The Golden Shark is the most elusive fish. It may not appear until your spear is fully upgraded. After upgrading, it appeared for us at the Lake as an extra-large shadow. It swims similarly to the Marlin but erratically after being hit. It takes six hits to catch, and another may not spawn for several days.
