Learn how to protect the Time Pod in Into the Breach, its HP, and what rewards you can salvage.
A Time Pod has a chance to crash land in the mission area at the start of the mission after the Squad is deployed, but before the Vek (enemy creatures) take their first actions.
- 1A Time Pod may crash land near your Squad.
- 2Vek tend to avoid moving into the same tile (space on the map) as the crashed Time Pod.
- 3Vek won't try to emerge (appear) in the same tile as a Time Pod.
- 4The Time Pod has 1 HP (Health Point) and can be destroyed directly by attacks or environmental factors like Air Strike, Lightning Strike, or Cataclysm.
- 5The Time Pod can also be destroyed indirectly, such as when Vek or Mechs (your controllable units) get pushed into the same tile.
- 6The Time Pod cannot be Frozen or Shielded.
Time Pods are sent from the future to provide information and advanced weaponry to help the present fight the Vek. Many Squads in Into the Breach are based on technology recovered from Time Pods. Time Pods always have a Reactor Core that can be salvaged, and sometimes they carry Pilots from the future who have escaped into the past.
Recovering a Time Pod, or at least protecting it from destruction, is a high priority. However, do not sacrifice current bonus objectives or risk the Power Grid or an experienced Pilot's life solely for the Time Pod.
Very rarely, a Beacon can be uncovered which sends out a homing signal to a Strange Pod that contains alien lifeforms.
- Prioritize protecting the Time Pod, but weigh its importance against other objectives.
- Be aware that environmental hazards can destroy the Time Pod.
- Indirect destruction via Vek or Mech movement is a possibility.
- Salvaging the Reactor Core is always possible if the Time Pod is destroyed.
