How to Beat Verdant Horror

The Verdant Horror is a colossal, sentient Blighted plant found in the heart of the Blighted Forest. This boss fight takes place on a series of elevated root platforms, demanding good mobility.

Attack Patterns:

• Vine Lash: The Horror lashes out with long, thorny vines across the arena.
• Spore Burst: Releases a burst of Blighted spores that linger, creating hazardous zones on the platforms.
• Root Spikes: Spikes erupt from the ground beneath Lily. Watch for ground indicators.
• Seed Pod Barrage: Fires multiple explosive seed pods.
• Regeneration (Phase 2): At around 50% health, it attempts to regenerate by drawing energy from surrounding Blighted flora.

Phases:

The Verdant Horror has two distinct phases. Phase 1 focuses on its direct attacks. Phase 2 (below 50% health) introduces the Regeneration mechanic and increases the intensity of its other attacks.

Weaknesses:

Its glowing core is the primary weak point. Hitting the core fills its Blight Gauge. No specific elemental weaknesses, but fire-based Spirits (if acquired) might deal bonus damage to the smaller regenerating plants.

Recommended Spirits & Strategy:

• Primary Spirit: Guardian Knight. For consistent damage to the core.
• Secondary Spirit: Sentinel's Shield. Useful for blocking Seed Pod Barrages and providing defense.
• Optional: Blighted Archer/Crystal Shard. If you have a ranged Spirit, it can be useful for hitting the core when it's out of melee range or for quickly destroying regenerating plants.

Strategy: The fight requires constant movement and awareness of the arena. Utilize the elevated root platforms to avoid ground-based attacks like Root Spikes and gain a better angle for attacking the core. For Vine Lash, dodge through or jump over. For Spore Burst, quickly move out of the affected area. Use Sentinel's Shield to block the Seed Pod Barrage. When the Blight Gauge fills, unleash your Guardian Knight's full combo on the core. In Phase 2, when it attempts Regeneration, immediately switch focus to destroying the smaller Blighted plants that appear around the arena. If you have an AoE Spirit or a fast-hitting ranged Spirit, use it here. If you fail to destroy them quickly, the boss will regain a significant amount of health. This fight is a test of endurance and target prioritization. Upon its defeat, purify its essence to gain the Thorned Vine Spirit, expanding your traversal options.
