Complete Part 18 of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, including the Mountaintop Tussle boss fight against Skowl and Bopopolis collectibles.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Ascend to grab the O, as the piece of swinging cheese is thrown to a fellow cheesy Chester.
  2. 2
This area is dark, but the path forward lights up in front of you. Grab all of the bananas in this first trail here to make a puzzle piece appear.
  3. 3
After the next stalagmite, there is a swinging cheesy Chester with a headlamp, which temporarily lights up the N. You will have to collect it without being able to see it, so remember where it is.
  4. 4
When the trails split, take the top trail with the banana coins, then continue over the jumping cheesy Chester, and descend to get a puzzle piece near the bottom of the screen.
  5. 5
Continue forward, dodging both the cheese that is being kicked up from the ground, as well as falling from the ceiling. Stay near the center of the screen while the giant wheel of cheese lurches forward to get the G.
  6. 6
The rocket barrel will crash onto the giant wheel of cheese, and the slot barrel is on top of it. Jump to the right of this platform to get a puzzle piece.

Boss: MOUNTAINTOP TUSSLE

Grab the Kong barrel, and choose which Kong you will want to bring into this fight. Cranky is a poor choice here, due to the fact that the cane pogo can defeat even helmeted enemies in one shot. Dixie is a good choice because of her ability to gain extra height on her jumps. Once you're ready, blast your way into the top of the mountain.

Your foe will be Skowl, the Startling.

Phase 1: Skowl will hurl two rounds of feathers at you, which you will need to dodge. After that, he will throw hootz chicks into the arena. Jump on them once to stun them, then throw them at Skowl to damage him. You can do this more than once per salvo of hootz. Once you hit him three times, a barrel cannon will appear to take you higher.

Phase 2: Skowl will flap his wings, pushing you backwards. Hootz will fly at you from the same side. Jump on the ones with egg shells on them, then throw them at Skowl, all while dodging or defeating the other hootz. He will eventually become tired, allowing you to hit him easily with a thrown hootz. He will then switch sides, and drop feathers on the arena. Take to the blast barrel on the other side of the platform to make it through safely. At this point, he will throw more hootz chicks at you. You can once again jump on one with egg shell on it and throw it at him. At this point, the pattern will start over. Hit him a total of three times, to move on to the final phase.

Phase 3: Skowl will take a more targeted approach to his feather-throwing tactic, making squeezing between the feathers basically impossible; dodge to either side instead. After two salvos of feathers, he will launch a series of pointy tucks at you. They will drop down in two groups, so find a gap, and switch spots before the second group comes down. The third set of tucks will be interspersed with hootz chicks, so make sure to grab one. After the third group, Skowl will move down to one side, so pelt him with one of the hootz. Next, look for sparkles near the top of the screen. Giant eggs with pointy tucks in them will fall from those spots, so stay clear of them. Out of the last egg will pop Skowl, stunned, without his antler helmet on, so you're clear for a jump attack at this point. After that, he will launch giant spiky ice balls at you, which will roll toward you. Jump over them, and the cycle will start anew. After hitting him three more times, you will be victorious.

Level: BOPOPOLIS

As the name of this level suggests, you will be jumping off of a lot of enemies' heads here. This starts off with a barrel cannon which shoots at an hootz. You will need to do a full hop off of this hootz, or plummet into the depths below.

  1. After the next blast barrel, there will be a string of five hootz. Grab all of the banana bunches above them, and a puzzle piece will appear. Grab it using the barrel cannon up above. As an added bonus, if you jump off of all of the hootz, including the puffton three times, that totals eight, giving you a life balloon.
  2. Continue forward, past the archy. There will be a set of descending platforms just ahead. To get the puzzle piece here, roll-jump through the puzzle piece, then jump either to the platform all the way to the right, or just go straight up and take the hit.
  3. After blasting onto the set of four hootz, roll jump through the bottom of the next platform to get a puzzle piece.
  4. After the following blast barrel segment, wait on the next platform for just a bit. A hootz will fly in from the bottom of the screen with a puzzle piece on its head.
  5. Continue forward until you blast out of a barrel, onto a tipping platform with an hootz and barrel cannon underneath. Blast out of the barrel quickly, then jump onto the tucks with a puzzle piece above it.

Once you're past the hootz, soaries, and spinning platforms platforms with tucks, you'll find a mysterious relic.

Tips
  • When fighting Skowl, remember to use Dixie Kong for her extra jump height.
  • In Bopopolis, jumping off of enemies' heads is a key mechanic.
  • Collect all five puzzle pieces in Bopopolis to complete the level's collection.
  • The N in the first part of the level is lit by a headlamp, requiring you to remember its location.
  • The puzzle piece in the split path section of the first part of the level is near the bottom of the screen.
