Explore weapon choices (Hand Cannon, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Fusion Rifle, Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher) and scoring in Destiny: The Taken King's Crucible modes like Clash, Control, and Rumble.

This section covers weapon choices for different combat scenarios and provides details on scoring and game modes within Destiny: The Taken King's Crucible.

Weapon Choice

Primary Weapon

Hand Cannon: Great for high damage, especially when aiming down sights for accuracy. However, it often has a smaller clip, requiring precise shots. It's favored by skilled players for its power at most ranges.

Special Weapon

  • Shotgun: Effective for close-quarters combat, capable of defeating enemies in a single shot at up to 8 meters.
  • Sniper Rifle: Best for long-distance maps, typically requiring two shots or a headshot to kill. Be aware that aiming down sights emits a red light, signaling your position.
  • Fusion Rifle: Versatile for any range but requires practice to fire effectively. It's powerful but unforgiving of missed shots. Remember to replenish ammo frequently if using Special Weapons.

Heavy Weapon

  • General: Heavy Weapon ammo spawns with an announcement and typically replenishes about half of your maximum. Wait for teammates to be nearby to share the ammo.
  • Machine Gun: Excellent for clearing large groups of enemies quickly.
  • Rocket Launcher: A swift and deadly weapon capable of defeating groups with a single shot. Ammo is limited, so use it strategically.

Crucible Marks & Rewards

Winning a match: Earns 25 Crucible Reputation and 3 Crucible Marks.

Losing a match: Earns 10 Crucible Reputation and 3 Crucible Marks.

The loot system on the Reward screen is random and not performance-based.

Game Modes

Clash

A 6 vs 6 Team Deathmatch where the objective is to score points through kills. It's recommended to play somewhat selfishly, focusing on offense but aiding teammates when necessary. Super Abilities can be used based on individual preference.

Control

A 6 vs 6 Team Deathmatch mode where teams earn points by controlling zones over time. Kills made while controlling zones grant bonus points. Capturing a Zone also rewards Super Energy. For scoring, focus on crowd control and zoning with Grenades to control objectives. Recommended Supers for clearing and protecting zones include Fist of Havoc, Nova Bomb, Ward of Dawn, and Arc Blade. For racking up points while your team has Control, Golden Gun and Radiance are good choices.

Rumble

A 6-player free-for-all Deathmatch with no teams. Players are encouraged to play aggressively to score the most points. Recommended classes for this mode include Bladedancers, Gunslingers, and Sunsinger Warlocks.
