Effects of Pure White World Tendency (PWWT):

  • While in Soul Form, your attack power will be increased.
  • Enemies will be slightly weaker.

Effects of Pure Black World Tendency (PBWT):

  • While in Soul Form, your maximum HP will be reduced further.
  • Enemies will be slightly stronger, but will also drop more Souls and rare items.
  • Black Phantom versions of the world's current enemies will start appearing.
  • Black Phantoms of NPCs will appear (1 per world). Defeating them will increase the World Tendency SIGNIFICANTLY. They only appear one time in each world per playthrough.
  • Primeval Demons will appear (1 per world). Defeating them will increase the World Tendency SIGNIFICANTLY. They only appear one time in each world per playthrough.
Tips for achieving Pure Black World Tendency
  • Technically, Primeval Demons appear during plain Black World Tendency (one step above Pure Black).
  • It is recommended to only take on Primeval Demons and NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) Black Phantoms during Pure Black World Tendency to traverse the entirety of the world and take out both in one trip to revert back to near PWWT at the end of the run.
  • As long as you don't travel via an archstone between killing them, you'll be able to hit both the Primeval Demon and NPC Black Phantom.

How to increase your World Tendency toward White:

  • Online Mode: Defeat other player-controlled Black Phantoms that have invaded your world.
  • Online & Offline Mode:
    • Defeat the boss of each world.
    • Defeat the Crimson Drake in W1-2.
    • Defeat the Azure Drake in W1-4.
    • Defeat the Primeval Demons that appear during Black World Tendency.
    • Defeat NPC Black Phantoms during Pure Black World Tendency (this also raises your Character Tendency toward White):
      • W1-1 - Executioner Miralda's Black Phantom
      • W2-2 - Scirvir the Wanderer's Black Phantom
      • W3-1 - Lord Rydell's Black Phantom
      • W4-1 - Satsuki's Black Phantom
      • W5-2 - Selen Vinland's Black Phantom
  • Always kill yourself in the Nexus immediately after you regain Body Form so that there is no chance of accidentally lowering your World Tendency by dying. Just climb up to the highest ledge and throw yourself off.

How to decrease your World Tendency toward Black:

  • Online Mode: Use the Black Eye Stone to invade another player's world and defeat that player.
  • Online & Offline Mode:
    • Die while in Body Form in each world. (To avoid this, throw yourself off of the highest ledge in the Nexus.)
    • Directly kill various NPCs throughout the game:
      • Executioner Miralda in 1-1 (PWWT) - Toward Black
      • Lord Rydell in 3-1 - Toward Black (Also lowers Character Tendency toward black)
      • Old King Doran in 1-1 - Toward Black
      • Satsuki in 4-1 (PWWT) - Toward Black
      • Scirvir the Wanderer in 2-2 (PWWT) - Toward Black (Also lowers Character Tendency toward black)
      • Selen Vinland in 5-2 (PWWT) - Toward Black (Also lowers Character Tendency toward black)
