    Climb down both ladders and follow the path.

    Pass through the fog to confront Maiden Astraea.

    Warning: Do not step into the bloody pool below during the fight, as you will be unable to move and will be swarmed by plague babies.

    Choose your strategy: defeat Garl Vinland first, or defeat Maiden Astraea directly with fire arrows.

    To defeat Maiden Astraea with fire arrows:
    • Follow the right path, being careful not to slip.

    At the far end, near the waterfall of blood, you have a clear shot at Astraea.

    Equip the Clever Rat's Ring and ensure your HP is less than 30% for increased damage.

    Use fire arrows from this vantage point. Astraea will heal as you damage her; aim to outpace her healing.

Tips
  • Maiden Astraea and Garl Vinland are weak against Fire. Garl Vinland is strong against Magic.
  • Bring a Bow and Fire Arrows, the Clever Rat's Ring, and [Black] Pine Resin.
  • To obtain the May you be unharmed Trophy, defeat Maiden Astraea herself without killing Garl Vinland.
  • After the battle, in body form, it is strongly recommended to return to the Nexus and kill yourself to return to soul form to avoid accidentally ruining your PWWT (Pure White World Tendency) in the Valley of Defilement.
  • Pick up the following items: Late Moon Grass x2 along the right side of the upper path, Pure Suckerstone by dropping down one level just as the path turns right and narrows, Legendary Hero Soul by dropping one more level to the right from the Suckerstone, Stone of Ephemeral Eyes to the left of the soul and along the edge of the blood pool, and Pure Marrowstone to the left of the Eyes.
