Demon's Souls: Master Character Tendency

While not quite as complex as World Tendency, Character Tendency still largely affects the game, primarily the difficulty. You will need to reach both Pure White and Pure Black Character Tendencies to find everything in the game. You will start at Neutral, then work toward White, then all the way down to Black. Effects of Pure White Character Tendency (PWCT)

You can obtain the Ally's Ring from the Monumental, as long as you answered YES to it at the beginning of the game.
Your attack power is increased while in Soul Form in your world, as well as a Blue Phantom in others' worlds.
The Demonbrandt and Northern Regalia are stronger the closer they are to PBWT.

Effects of Pure Black Character Tendency (PBCT)

While in Soul Form, your maximum HP will be reduced further.
Your attack power is increased while invading other players' worlds as a Black Phantom.
After killing Yurt the Silent Chief, Mephistopheles will appear in the Nexus and charge you with assassinations for various rewards.
The Demonbrandt and Northern Regalia are stronger the closer they are to PBCT.

How to increase your Character Tendency toward White

Online Mode: Defeat other player-controlled Black Phantoms that have invaded your world.
Online & Offline Mode: Defeat NPC Black Phantoms during Pure Black World Tendency (which also raises the World Tendency toward White)

How to decrease your Character Tendency toward Black

Online Mode: Use the Black Eye Stone to invade another player's world and defeat that player.
Online & Offline Mode: Directly kill various NPCs throughout the game. (If they die indirectly via a fall, poison, plague, or Soulsucker, then CT is not affected.)
