Master the Graveyard in Dead Cells! Learn enemy patterns, find the key, and prepare for the Forgotten Sepulcher. Your guide to this challenging biome.
Alright, so you've made it to the Graveyard! This is likely one of the last stops on your journey, and you'll need the Spider Rune to even get here. Because you've probably seen most of the game by now, there aren't really any *brand new* enemies. This is actually a good thing – you'll know what to expect, which makes this level a bit more manageable.
The Graveyard itself is pretty straightforward. There aren't any crazy mechanics or unique gimmicks, just a good old-fashioned fight through to the exit. Keep an eye out for the usual traps like spikes and those nasty spinning spiked balls, and just focus on moving forward.
You'll encounter a new variant of the Purulent Zombie here. When they die, they don't just leave behind corpse worms; instead, they unleash a swarm of Corpse Biters. They're still not much of a threat on their own, mostly just there to wander over and explode into a small horde of biters. Just deal with them and be ready for the follow-up.
The enemy mix can be a bit rough sometimes. While Slashers are probably the toughest individual threat, they're rare. The real danger comes from Catchers. If you've fought them before, you should know the drill: dodge their chain attack and get in quick hits during their recovery. If you get caught, roll away immediately – you do NOT want to get hit by their follow-up melee.
Things get *really* spicy when a Catcher shows up with friends. Maskers are a huge pain because they hide other enemies, letting them sneak up on you. Inquisitors are also nasty with their long-range attacks that can hit you through walls. Try to avoid fighting these guys all at once if you can. Always be on the lookout for hidden enemies if a Masker is around, and be extra cautious around Catchers – they pack a serious punch.
Compared to other areas, the Graveyard is generally easier than the Slumbering Sanctuary, and maybe even a bit simpler than the Stilt Village if you're trying to pick the path of least resistance.
Finding the Graveyard Key:
Your main objective here is to find the Graveyard Key. Keep an eye out for a door with a big key icon next to it. Fight your way through the enemies guarding the path to it, grab the key, and then head back out. You'll need this key to open a locked door somewhere else in the level.
The Underground Section:
Once you've used the key on the locked door, you'll head into the underground part of the Graveyard. It's not significantly harder than the above-ground area, but enemies can be a bit more densely packed, meaning more multi-enemy fights. You might also find some hidden areas that require your runes – these could contain some extra loot.
Exiting the Graveyard:
There's only one exit from the Graveyard, and it leads to the Forgotten Sepulcher. Before you leave, make sure you've grabbed the scrolls – there are 5 in total (2 Scrolls of Power and 3 Dual-Stat Scrolls). The exit door might take a little searching through the branching underground paths, but you'll find it eventually. More enemies to fight while you look, right?
