MOUNT ZAND [0417]

Navigate the dense rainforest of Mount Zand in Bastion. Discover Fragments, Vineapples, and Something Greasy. Learn to use the Galleon Mortar and defeat tough enemies like Lungblossoms.

The area formerly known as Mount Zand is now a dense rainforest. The thick bushes make visibility difficult, and Lunkheads jump around. Search the perimeter for Fragments, Vineapples, and Something Greasy.

Head north past a small pond and exit the brush. Cross the moss-covered rocks and defeat the Wallflowers. In the southeast corner, an island holds an Anklegator and a Stinkweed, which yield Fragments upon defeat.

Proceed north from the rock path and ascend a tilted tree trunk. The Galleon Mortar, your new weapon, is located next to a stack of crates. This weapon is slow and hard to aim but powerful. To fire, hold down X or B to create a target that moves outwards; release when the target is at your desired destination. It excels at long range but can damage you at close range.

Use the Galleon Mortar to defeat the three Peckers on the nearby tree. Continue right, past the Arsenal, to find a Fine Gramophone. Destroy the Pincushion and patch of Stabweeds that appear behind you.

Return to the weapon pickup location and proceed north. The Galleon Mortar can break through Wallflowers and Pincushions. Ascend the stairs to the wooden walkways and confront the enemies. You can choose the upper or lower path; the lower path offers a Health Tonic and a Black Tonic.

Continue along the catwalks, using your mortar against island-stationed enemies, until you reach a Skybridge. Ride it to another island.

The Shard is directly ahead. After acquiring it, two Lungblossoms will emerge and attack with thorns. These enemies shoot thorns from their mouths. Strafe to avoid the projectiles and eliminate supporting enemies before focusing on the Lungblossoms. While the Galleon Mortar is effective, its slow firing rate can be a disadvantage. Consider using your melee weapon on the first Lungblossom and the Galleon Mortar on the second. Afterward, exit to the Skyway.

In The Bastion, present the Fine Gramophone to Zia and Rucks, and use the Shard. After discussing the Memento with Rucks, the Fine Gramophone will be playable on the east side of town. With only two Shards remaining, your adventure is nearing its end.
