How to Unlock Co-op

Alright, so here's the deal: to get co-op up and running, you've gotta push through the main story a bit. Specifically, you need to complete the sixth main mission, which is called The Arahna Clan. Once that's done and dusted, you're good to go!

After you've completed that mission, just open up your menu. You'll want to navigate over to the 'System' tab. You should see 'Co-op' right there as the first option on the left. Select it, and you'll see a list of your friends who are currently playing the game, plus any invitations you might have gotten.

Inviting Friends and How Co-op Works

Want to bring someone into your world? Easy peasy. Just hover over their username in that co-op menu and hit 'Invite'.

Once you're both in the game, you can keep progressing the story, hunt down those collectibles, and tackle side activities together. The best part? Your friend will keep any progress they make in your game when they jump back into their own solo adventure. Pretty neat, right?

While you're out exploring, you can both press down on the D-Pad to activate a 'ping'. This is super handy for highlighting items your friend might want to grab, or just for pointing each other in the right direction. Your guest can wander pretty far from you without any distance limits, but they'll be confined to areas you've already visited. So, if they discover a new Point of Interest (POI) in their game, it won't be available for them in yours until you've been there.

Now, what if your friend is playing on a different platform? No worries! If you press RB, you can bring up the co-op settings. From there, you can toggle 'Crossplay' on or off. This means you can team up with friends no matter if they're on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.
