Effective use of cover and strategic positioning are fundamental to surviving the intense firefights in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The game features a dynamic cover system that allows players to duck behind natural elements like large rocks and trees, as well as man-made structures provided by the RDA. Utilizing cover not only shields you from incoming fire from weapons like the RDA's assault rifles and rocket launchers but also provides opportunities to reposition, reload, and plan your next move. Enemies will actively try to flank you, so constantly assessing your surroundings and maintaining optimal positioning is crucial.

When engaging RDA forces, identify natural choke points or advantageous high ground. For instance, if you are attacking an RDA outpost, finding a vantage point on a nearby cliff can allow you to rain down arrows or fire upon enemies below while they struggle to reach you. Conversely, if you are defending a position, using the available cover to create a kill zone where enemies are forced to advance through a narrow path can significantly increase your survivability. Remember that not all cover is created equal. Some objects can be destroyed by heavy fire, so be prepared to move if your current cover becomes compromised. The AMP Trooper, with its heavy weaponry, can quickly obliterate weaker cover options.

Maintaining awareness of your flank is also a critical aspect of positioning. RDA soldiers are adept at flanking maneuvers, and being caught in the open without cover can quickly lead to your demise. If you find yourself pinned down, consider using grenades or special abilities to flush out enemies from their cover, or use a smoke screen to break line of sight and reposition to a safer location. The mission arc "Save Your People" often involves defending specific locations, making intelligent use of cover and positioning absolutely vital for success. Always be ready to adapt your strategy based on enemy movements and the evolving battlefield. A well-placed shot from behind cover can often turn the tide of a difficult engagement.
