Learn how to explore Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition's vast landscapes, unlock fast travel, find collectibles, and fill out your map.

Hey there! As you adventure through Xenoblade Chronicles, you're going to traverse some seriously huge areas. These places are packed with enemies, some way tougher than you are right now – think up into the 90s! This means there's always a good reason to backtrack and explore every nook and cranny.

When you first arrive in a new zone, your map will be pretty blank. Don't worry, that's normal! As you wander around, you'll start uncovering Locations and Landmarks. Discovering these is super important: Landmarks unlock Fast Travel points, which are a lifesaver for getting around quickly. Plus, finding any of these will bag you some sweet EXP, AP, and SP.

Here's a neat trick: if you manage to find every single Location and Landmark in an area, your map will automatically fill itself in! No more hugging the edges of the map trying to uncover every last bit. Seriously, one of the first things you should aim to do when you enter a new area is track down all these spots. It makes all the traveling and questing that much smoother. If you want a hand finding them, our Tour Guide section has lists for all the maps.

The last bit of treasure hunting Xenoblade has to offer are the Collectibles. You'll see these little glowing blue orbs scattered everywhere. What's inside them is a bit random, but they're always worth grabbing. You can check out the Collectopaedia in your menu. Using the items you find in each area there can unlock some really useful bonuses, like new Gems and Armor. Generally, even though these items are also used for Quests, it's a good idea to use your first one on the Collectopaedia. Why? Because Quests will always point you towards them anyway, so you won't miss out on quest progress by using them for a bonus first.
