Walkthrough
  1. 1
Head left from your current position and leap off the edge to the water below to unlock the Making Waves Achievement. Swim southeast to reach land and follow the trail back to Colony 9.
  2. 2
After a cutscene, Fiora leaves the party. You'll be tutored on battling Mechon: they can only be damaged when Toppled. Use Shulk's Turn Strike or Stream Edge, or Reyn's Wild Down to initiate Topple. Defeat the Mechon M63 (Level 6).
  3. 3
Fiora rejoins. Head to the lab in the Military District. You'll learn how to flee from battle using the green Flee Icon. It's recommended to flee from stronger Mechon for now.
  4. 4
Head north through Ether Light, then east onto the bridge at Central Plaza. After a cutscene, head north to the Military District for another scene.
  5. 5
The lab is inaccessible. Head south toward the Residential District to find the mobile artillery.
  6. 6
After a scene, Fiora leaves again. You'll face three Mechon M31 (Level 4), Mechon M51 (Level 5). Use Topple tactics and follow up with strong Arts like Back Slash.
  7. 7
More Mechon descend: Mechon M69 (Level 5), Mechon M72 (Level 6), Mechon M82 (Level 5). Switch to Dunban in the menu. The Monado allows damage without Topple. Use Monado Enchant to let Shulk and Reyn damage Mechon without Topple. Use Buster to defeat enemies quickly.
  8. 8
The direct route is blocked. Take the long way via the Commercial District. You can fight Mechon or dash past them.
  9. 9
Reach the entrance, triggering scenes where Shulk takes the Monado.
  10. 10
A tutorial introduces Monado Arts, replacing Turn Strike. Use Monado Enchant to allow allies to damage Mechon, then Monado Buster on survivors.
  11. 11
Follow the trail south to the Residential District for a showdown.

Boss: Metal Face

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Metal Face (Level 10) - Sight detection.
  • Virtually impenetrable at the start.
  • Damage can only be inflicted when Toppled.

Phases:

  1. Initial phase: Attacks are deflected. Survive until cutscenes trigger.
  2. Second phase: Topple combo is required to inflict damage.

Strategy:

  • In the first phase, you can only watch as your attacks are deflected.
  • When control resumes, use Chain Attacks as soon as possible.
  • Use Arts within the Chain Attack to inflict Topple on Metal Face, allowing you to deal damage.
  • Use Monado Enchant to increase damage output for Dunban and Reyn.
  • Use Monado Buster when available.
  • Metal Face has three Arts: Killing Claw (heavy damage), and two others (details cut off).
  • Making Waves Achievement.
  • Experience and items from defeated Mechon.
