How to Recruit Jae in Rogue Trader: Companions

Learn how to recruit Jae in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Follow our guide to find her, complete her quest, and make her a valuable companion to your Rogue Trader.

After visiting the Liege, you'll find Jae and him discussing some business. Following this, she departs, leaving you with no clear indication of her whereabouts. Continue with your tasks in Footfall, including dealing with gang ambushes.

Once the ambushes are cleared, you can explore Footfall again. The station features several districts, including the Shadow district, which contains many main and side quests. Navigate through the Shadow District towards the north. Your destination is a converted Voidship called The Marty’s Endurance, which houses Thugs, Refugees, and a bar where Jae can be found.

Upon entering the ship, locate the bar in the upper right section. You'll find Jae there, lamenting a failed deal with the Liege. After the cutscene, you can speak with her and choose to help her retrieve her cargo.

You will then be tasked with fighting through gang members, stun grenades, and servitors in a toxic environment. Reunite with Jae at the Warehouse in the Shadow District and defeat a group of thugs. Be cautious of Acid barrels, which can be hazardous in melee, and the thugs' tendency to throw Stun Grenades. Avoid grouping your units, as this can lead to multiple characters being stunned simultaneously.

After defeating the enemies, deliver the shipment to Jae. However, the Liege’s men will appear, demanding Jae's capture for shipping Xeno artifacts. You have several options: protect her, sentence her to death, hand her over and defend your involvement, or openly declare your support for her actions. Regardless of your choice, there will be repercussions and rewards throughout the game. For the purpose of recruitment, it is recommended to ally with her and claim the cargo as the Rogue Trader’s property.

Recruiting Jae grants a +2 Profit Factor increase. She is a Leader with starting stats suited for Aeldari and Drukhari weaponry and fits the Master Tactician role. After recruitment, she may request a private meeting regarding her companion quest. Return to her ship and speak with her to receive two additional space elf weaponry, suitable for dual-wielding by Jae or an Assassin like Marazhai. She also offers a faction reputation boost of 2000 to a faction of your choice.

Be aware that after recruiting Jae, she may be targeted by rival Traders, leading to potentially challenging voidship battles. If this occurs early in the game, consider lowering the difficulty to Story mode to avoid a difficult experience.

Recruiting Jae might be viewed unfavorably by certain companions, such as Abelard, Pascal, and Heinrix, due to her association with Cold Traders. Understanding these pros and cons will help you decide whether to recruit Jae as a Companion.
