Unlock the full potential of Valkyrie Elysium's combat system. Learn about Reaction, Support, and Attack skills, their costs, and strategic uses to dominate your foes.

This guide details the various skills available in Valkyrie Elysium, categorized into Reaction, Support, and Attack skills. Understanding and utilizing these skills effectively is crucial for mastering combat.

Note: "Warrior" refers to swordsmen, spearmen, heavy knights, samurai, Freya, or Brahms, and does not include archers.

A) Reaction Skills

These skills activate automatically in combat when specific conditions are met. You can equip two Reaction skills at once; they have no effect if not equipped.

  • First Aid (Cost: 12/12/14/14/26/26/48/48): Randomly heals a party member (excluding yourself). The amount healed depends on the skill level and the character's maximum DME (Damage Mitigation Energy).
  • Auto-Item (Cost: 4/4/8/8/12/12/16/16): Automatically uses an item when needed, extremely useful in the late game. On the setup screen, use the directional pad to set the percentage chance for each item to be used. It's recommended to set important items (like Union Plume) to 100% and less critical items to lower percentages to ensure optimal item usage.
  • Throw (Cost: 25): For Warriors, shoots up to two small projectiles before an attack, dealing light damage and adding 1 to the energy gauge.
  • Cure Condition (Cost: 15/15/15/20/20/30/30/40): Randomly cures abnormal status effects on a party member (excluding yourself).
  • Guts (Cost: 15/15/20/20/40/40/60/80): A highly useful skill that may revive you with single-digit DME upon death. At level 8, it works approximately 60% of the time.
  • Adept Illusion (Cost: 12/13/14/25/26/27/38/49): For Sorcerers, increases their chance of dodging attacks.
  • Dancing Sword (Cost: 5/5/10/10/20/20/30/40): A Sorcerer skill that allows counterattacks when dodging. However, it has a low success rate, deals minimal damage, and prevents the character from attacking the following turn.
  • Last Trial (Cost: 25/25/25/38/38/38/51/64): For Sorcerers, damages the enemy that defeated you and may inflict a status ailment, but only activates upon your death.

B) Support Skills

These skills activate automatically when their conditions are met.

  • Splash (Cost: 20/20/30/55/55/75/80/90): For Warriors, each hit on an enemy inflicts additional damage (estimated 20%) and adds 1 to the energy meter.
  • Reverie (Cost: 90/90/90/90/90/90/90/90): For Warriors, shadows follow the warrior and perform additional attacks, dealing 30% of the regular attack damage. These contribute to the hit meter but not the energy meter. They also work on counterattacks.
  • Combo Counter (Cost: 40): For Warriors and Archers, allows the use of all attacks during a counterattack.
  • Noise Arrow (Cost: 20/20/20/35/35/35/40/50): For Archers, inflicts Silence on enemies. Effective, but avoid using it on Wise Sorcerers, as it can cause them to use their Fiendish Shape move every round.
  • Triple Distress (Cost: 40/40/40/55/55/55/60/60): For Archers, decreases an enemy's chance of avoiding, guarding, and counterattacking.
  • Steal Magic (Cost: 20/20/35/35/50/50/60/60): For Sorcerers, absorbs a portion of an enemy's maximum hit points as DME when the enemy is killed.
  • Stun Magic (Cost: 60/70/70/80/80/90/90/90): For Sorcerers, gives all magic attacks (including Wait Reaction) a chance to inflict Faint on enemies.
  • Concentration (Cost: 30/40/50/60/70): For Sorcerers, reduces your DME and may lower your CT (Combo Time) when a PWS (Power Weapon Skill) is performed. This skill is generally not recommended.

C) Attack Skills

These skills require a button input to activate.

  • Scarlet Edge (Cost: 90): For Warriors, tap the attack button quickly to knock an enemy to the ground. Uses DME.
  • Charge (Cost: 60): For Warriors, tap the attack button quickly to inflict extra damage. Uses DME.
  • Strike Edge (Cost: 50): For Warriors, tap the attack button quickly to inflict Faint on an enemy. Uses DME.
  • Dark (Cost: 50): For Warriors, hold the directional button left before pressing attack to strike the enemy from behind, useful for juggling combos. If Valkyrie is the only party member, she can attack from the back row.
  • Trick Step (Cost: 50): For Warriors, hold the directional button right before attacking to potentially cause the enemy to miss a counterattack, allowing a free shot. This skill has a low success rate. If Valkyrie is the only party member, she can attack from the back row.
  • Slanting Rain (Cost: 30): For Archers, press the directional button left immediately after pressing attack to launch a single strong hit at all enemies.
  • Darkness Arrow (Cost: 90): For Archers, press the directional button left immediately after pressing attack to launch a weak attack at all enemies that supposedly reduces their avoid rate, though this effect is not apparent.
  • False Arrow (Cost: Not specified): For Archers, press the directional button left immediately after pressing attack to shoot three arrows that force an enemy to block.
