Complete The Settlers Part 30 walkthrough, including how to release the cardinal, build a trebuchet, and defeat Crimson Sabatt.
Walkthrough
- 1Use the minimap (a small map displayed on the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap)) to locate the prison building with a large blue arrow pointing to it on the east side of the city.
- 2Have your thief interact with the building to release the prisoner.
- 3Optional: Before releasing the cardinal, use a battering ram to break through the city's wooden walls. Just before your troops torch the storehouse, have your thief release the prisoner. Then, destroy the city.
- 4After the cardinal is delivered safely, deliver two battalions to their marketplace to be given to the cloister for protection, triggering the "Trebuchet" quest.
- 5Move your army to the harbor outside the northern territory.
- 6Deliver the two battalions and send in your thief to steal plans from a tent resembling a bandit camp.
- 7Warning: Sabatt will start sending out raiding parties.
- 8Send your thief back to your castle with the plans.
- 9Send in your troops to take over the northern territory, striking a blow to Sabatt's support. If you destroyed this territory earlier, you must restart from an earlier save file.
- 10Prepare for the final assault on the last outpost of Sabatt, the bridge to her main city, as she will defend it with everything she has.
- 11Once the site is taken over, use your knight to deliver 50 wood to the construction site.
- 12A trebuchet will be built and automatically begin destroying the main gate.
- 13Once both gates are down, enter the city to defeat Crimson Sabatt.
- 14Note: The Red Prince will send reinforcements to your main city as you attack, but defeating Crimson Sabatt results in victory.
Vestholm:
- When you start this map, your knight and two battalions are inside Vestholm, which is under enemy control.
- Select one battalion and right-click on the gate. This unit will enter the gatehouse and lift the gate but must be sacrificed.
- The remaining unit can either accompany you or stay and die; if you bring them, you must pay them.
- After escaping Vestholm, go north to your new settlement to plan a counter-attack.
- You will be occasionally attacked. Build a stone wall around your main territory (inside the river) for protection and time to build up.
- Expand slightly to seal off two areas to the far east and west. The Red Prince usually attacks from the east.
- You cannot attack or takeover buildings or territories not yet claimed. Battering rams and catapults are not usable, but towers are acceptable. Reaching Baron rank with archers is generally sufficient.
- The goal is to capture (kill) the traitor knight and preserve Vestholm.
- Your initial area provides stone, hunting, fishing, and trees to the north. Use 3 evenly spaced woodcutters.
- The territory to the east has iron, and there is hunting to the south-west.
- There are ruins worth 300 gold to the west, found by following the west road toward the south.
- Sheep and cows are hidden among the territories.
- In the far south-west, another ruin is worth 300 gold. This ruin has many buttons; after claiming the gold, other buttons summon 50 wood, which has no known effect.
- The area near this ruin resembles your first settlement on map 1.
- As you rise in rank, you will receive two quests: one to send a message to allies at the harbor (not essential), and another to send a thief to Vestholm to find captured knights.
- To send your thief into Vestholm, approach from the north, watching for patrols with predictable patterns. Time your thief's entrance and exit to avoid detection. The target is the castle.
- After your thief returns, you will be informed of three locations housing other knights. One of these is timed, requiring forces to be ready beforehand.
Tips
- Destroying the city where the cardinal is held can significantly weaken Sabatt's forces, but do not destroy it before the prisoner is freed, as this may make the map unwinnable.
- If you destroyed the northern territory earlier, you are out of luck and must restart from an earlier save file.
- Build a stone wall around your main territory inside the river for defense.
- You can seal off areas to the far east and far west for easier defense.
- Consider reaching Baron rank with archers as a sufficient strategy.
- Collect resources like stone, hunting, fishing, and wood from your initial area.
- Explore the west for ruins worth 300 gold.
- Use any found sheep and cows for resources.
- When sending your thief to Vestholm, time their movements carefully to avoid patrols.
