Learn the ropes of Clan Battles in The Lullaby of Life! Understand deployment, soldier types, leader roles, and how to achieve victory in this essential guide.

Alright, so Clan Battles in The Lullaby of Life can seem a bit overwhelming at first, especially since your very first one throws you right in! Don't sweat it, though. Think of it like this: you've got your crew, the enemy has theirs, and you need to send your guys out to take 'em down before time runs out. Once you send a fighter out, they'll handle themselves, heading straight for the closest enemy and duking it out until one of them is finished. You'll mostly be dealing with a bunch of regular soldiers, but keep an eye out for their leaders – these guys are tougher, like elite soldiers or even unique characters.

Sometimes, you'll have to clear out multiple areas in one go. The cool thing is, once your team finishes up in one spot, they'll automatically move on to the next area, still ready for action, and pick the fight back up with the new enemies waiting for them.

Deployment Gauge

The key to everything is your Deployment Gauge, that blue bar at the bottom of your screen. You need enough points in this gauge to deploy anyone – soldiers or leaders. It starts pretty low and maxes out at 300. Don't worry, it slowly refills over time, and you'll get a little boost for every enemy you defeat. Plus, some Leader Skills can instantly top it up! Want a higher starting gauge? Level up your leaders and put them in your Hierarchy; it boosts your clan's overall power and directly impacts that gauge.

With the gauge, you've got two main choices for who to send out:

Sending Out Soldiers

These are your expendable troops – they can take a few hits, but they're cheap to deploy. You can send out a ton of them, up to a 100-person cap, and the best part? You don't need to babysit them. Once deployed, they'll just go after the nearest enemy automatically. You might notice you can only deploy certain types of soldiers at first. This depends on the icons next to your leaders' pictures in your Strike Team. For example, if a leader has the red 'Brawler' icon, you can deploy Brawlers. Having multiple leaders with the same soldier icon actually reduces the deployment cost for that type of soldier, which is a nice little bonus!

Here are the five types of soldiers you can deploy:

  • Brawler (Red) - These are your standard punch-first guys. They don't have any standout strengths or weaknesses, and since many leaders have them, they're usually the cheapest to deploy.
  • Gunner (Gray) - These folks hang back and shoot enemies from a distance.
  • Heavies (Green) - Built like tanks, they can soak up a lot of damage but are pretty slow on their feet.
  • Rusher (Blue) - Think fast movers with knives; they hit hard and are quick, but they can't take much of a beating.
  • Grenadiers (Yellow) - These guys toss out grenades that pack a punch and hit multiple enemies, but they take a moment to set up, so faster enemies might dodge them.

Honestly, soldiers are best used to support your leaders. They're usually not tough enough to be your main force, as leaders can take way more punishment.

Sending out Leaders

Leaders are a bigger drain on your Deployment Gauge compared to soldiers. Also, if a leader goes down, they'll need some time to recover before you can send them back into the fray. However, you'll definitely want to make leaders your primary fighting force. They hit harder, last longer, gain experience to get even stronger, and they have special skills that can really turn the tide of battle. Plus, you get to control them directly and position them strategically on the battlefield.

My usual strategy? Deploy a few leaders first, then bring in the rest as your gauge allows. Once all six are in the fight, keep a steady stream of soldiers coming in to back them up and keep any tough enemies busy.

Victory or Defeat

Every mission has its own win conditions, most commonly just wiping out all the enemies. And, of course, there are defeat conditions, usually running out of time. If you get defeated, your leaders still get a little XP for their efforts. If you win, you get that XP plus bonus victory XP. Kiryu himself will also get some XP and a nice chunk of money. Sometimes, completing certain missions can even earn you a new Leader for your clan!
