Complete Part 19 of The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, including base infiltration, the Destroyer boss fight, and mission objectives.
Walkthrough
- 1Proceed through the tunnel and destroy the two shield-generating antennas to disable the base's shield. You can perform this action anytime during free roam (the open-world mode where you move and play without an active mission) (navigating the game world without active mission objectives) to enter the base. To destroy them from outside, jump onto the mountain pass, leap into the air, lock onto an antenna, and throw an object.
- 2Once both shields are down, advance into the main base area, which contains numerous buildings including a command center and an airfield.
- 3Defeat the defending Soldiers and Hulkbusters.
- 4Explore the base and note a canyon leading south. Descending this canyon will lead you past two large concrete walls to three bunkers surrounding a helipad. This area is the Vault, which you will return to later.
- 5Your primary objective is to reach the arroyo along the base's western edge.
- 6As you approach the arroyo, Hulkbusters undergoing a demonstration will break free and attack. Defeat them.
- 7Approach the mech on display near the bleachers. Hulk will automatically smash it and extract an interface.
- 8You can attempt to escape the base now, but it is recommended to place the machine back where you found it. New defenses have appeared in the base, and you must destroy them to reach the Restricted Area 102 Jump Marker.
- 9These new defenses consist of Soldiers, Hulkbuster Infantry, and two MRLS (Multiple Rocket Launch Systems) near the base entrance. Destroy all of them, paying special attention to the MRLS due to their powerful guided missiles. Note that only Soldiers will respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) (reappear after being defeated).
- 10Return to the arroyo and retrieve the interface once the path is clear.
- 11Jump to the Church and place the interface in the designated yellow box to complete the mission.
- 12New Blonsky files will be decrypted, providing information about the Vault and gamma mutant confinement. You will also learn of Blonsky's secret project, Mission Directive, though its details remain too coded to understand. Save your game.
Chapter 2, Boss Battle: Proving Grounds.
A new green star has appeared by the Church, indicating a new mission. Before activating it, purchase and practice all available moves. You will not return to the Badlands for a significant amount of time.
- Activate the green star when you feel prepared. Samson will inform you about the development of a new, larger, and more heavily armed Hulkbuster called the Destroyer. The prototype is being demonstrated near Branson Military Base, and Samson wants you to familiarize yourself with its capabilities. Destroying the prototype should significantly hinder further Destroyer production.
- Ensure you have fully upgraded your Sonic Clap and know how to use it before starting this mission.
- Upon starting the mission, you will find the military was expecting your arrival, with Ross having established a perimeter. The Destroyer prototype will activate.
- The Destroyer mech is three times your size and possesses powerful combo and charge attacks, high-energy chest lasers, and shoulder-mounted missile packs that fire guided rockets similar to MRLS shots.
- Unlike Hulkbuster Infantry, the Destroyer cannot grab you, and its larger size makes it an easier target. However, it can still block attacks and move quickly using thrusters and hydraulic jumps. The mech has four life bars.
- The Destroyer's pilot is a soldier named Jenkins, a skilled tactical fighter who will call for backup, including several Hulkbuster Infantry Units, throughout the battle.
- Warning: To effectively manage the fight, first jump away from the Destroyer's initial laser sweep attack and maintain constant movement.
- Jenkins will pursue you, but his attacks are generally easy to spot and dodge. Utilize environmental objects like concrete barriers, boulders, trees, military trucks, jeeps, truck trailers, and large containers for throwing and weaponizing.
- Acquire a Shield as soon as possible and use it.
- Before directly engaging Jenkins, check your minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen) (a small map display, often in a corner of the screen, showing your immediate surroundings and objectives). You will notice three red circles in addition to the Destroyer's location. These represent satellite dishes Jenkins is using to transmit orders for reinforcements and open base doors.
- Quickly traverse the canyon to locate and destroy all three satellite dishes. Destroying them will prevent Jenkins from summoning help and opening doors, making the fight much more manageable.
- Be aware that Hulkbuster Infantry Units will swarm you as you target the dishes. Use attacks like Sonic Clap, which damages all nearby foes, or Critical Thunderclap (if you can achieve Critical Mass) to push them back.
- Use your Shield and effective combos to destroy the dishes and any Hulkbusters that get too close. Green orbs, which restore health, can be found on the canyon walls and are dropped by defeated Infantry Units.
- Prioritize destroying the satellite dishes and ignore Jenkins as much as possible until they are all gone.
- After destroying the dishes, eliminate any remaining Infantry Hulkbusters.
Tips
- Destroying the shield generators from outside the base by jumping from the mountain pass is an effective way to initiate the infiltration.
- Remember the location of the Vault (three bunkers surrounding a helipad south of the main base area) as you will return there later.
- The MRLS units near the base entrance are a high priority target due to their dangerous guided missiles.
- Fully upgrading your Sonic Clap and knowing how to use it is crucial for dealing with the waves of Hulkbuster Infantry during the Destroyer boss fight.
- Focus on destroying the satellite dishes first during the Destroyer boss fight, as this significantly reduces the number of reinforcements Jenkins can call.
- Green orbs are available on the canyon walls and dropped by enemies to restore health during the boss battle.
