Your guide to navigating Tranquil Woods (2) in Tales of Berseria! Learn boss strategies for Therion Orthrus and Iron Bones, find all treasures, and trigger important skits.

Alright, let's tackle the second part of Tranquil Woods. It's a bit more involved than the first, with some treasure hunting and a couple of tough boss fights. Stick with me, and we'll get through it smoothly!

First things first, follow the path north until you reach the initial split. From there, head south. You'll find a Red Verbena here, and just a bit further south is a geotree to collect. After that, you'll need to jump over a gap to the west. This leads you to the top of a stream where you can snag an Apple Gel. Now, circle back to that gap and this time, head east. Keep going north, and you'll pass a save point. Look for a boulder nearby; break it to jump off the ledge behind it. Before heading into the cape, grab the Red Rosemary you'll find there. Once you've got it, circle back around and enter the cape.

Boss: Therion Orthrus

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • HP: 86773
  • Type: Beast, Fiend
  • Weakness: Wind
  • Resistance: Fire, Water

Strategy:

  • The Therion Orthrus has one head that spews fire (causing Burn) and another that uses water (causing Poison). It also has some non-elemental attacks.
  • A key thing to remember is that this boss can never drop below 3 souls, even when taking damage. This means you can't rely on simply damaging it to steal souls.
  • Focus on hitting its Wind weakness. Be aware that many of Velvet's own artes that are effective against Beast and Fiend types are fire-based, so try to mix in other artes or have a party member exploit the Wind weakness.
  • When you manage to trigger a Break Soul, unleash a powerful Mystic Arte. This is a great way to restore your souls after a successful combo.

Drops: Elemental-Attuned Glacite

After the boss fight, watch the skit called Get That Book. Then, search the nearby ruins. You're looking for a Katz Box and some Red Saffron. Once you've collected those, approach the Code Red Hunt marker.

Boss: Iron Bones

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • HP: 60340
  • Type: Undead, Armored, Fiend
  • Weakness: Fire
  • Resistance: Neutral

Strategy:

  • Iron Bones mainly uses non-elemental attacks, but its biggest threat is that it restores 50% of any damage dealt to your party.
  • Don't underestimate its Attack and Arte Attack stats, even though it might look weak.
  • Keep an eye out for its Gravity Storm spell and its Creeping Curse attack.
  • The good news? It's weak to fire, which is Velvet's specialty! Its attacks are also fairly slow, giving you openings.

Drops: Mirrored Glacite

With Iron Bones defeated, it's time to head back to Aball. Make your way to Velvet's house for a scene. After that, check both event bubbles for some extra dialogue. Then, exit the house and you'll trigger another scene at the gravestones. Head into the main part of town for yet another scene.

Now, you'll want to make your way back to the Perniya Cliffside Path. Once there, look for the skit The Horned Daemon. After that, continue heading toward Taliesin. Along the way, you'll trigger more skits: first Suspecting Eleanor, then An Arte to Control Daemons, and finally Who Is the Spy? as you get closer to Taliesin.
