Difficulty Levels

Four difficulty levels are available:

Casual

Enemies have reduced health, aggression, and damage. Health regenerates automatically to the caution level. Ammo is more plentiful, Aim Assist is enabled, and fewer enemies appear. Grace has unlimited saves.

Standard (Modern)

The default experience with standard enemy stats. Grace has unlimited saves. Difficulty can be lowered if needed.

Standard (Classic)

Enemies are tougher and more aggressive. Ink Ribbons are required for saving, and autosaves are less frequent. Additional Ink Ribbons can be crafted.

Insanity

Significantly increased enemy health, aggression, speed, and damage. More enemies and earlier elite encounters. Aim Assist is disabled. Ink Ribbons are required for saving. Item locations differ, ammo drops are more frequent for Leon, supply boxes are pricier, and enemies yield more credits. Some items are exclusive to this difficulty. Completing the game in under four hours unlocks the Infinite Ribbon.
