Complete walkthrough for the Motherlobe area in Psychonauts 2, including collectible locations, trophy achievements, and upgrade strategies.
Take just a few steps forward and talk to the receptionist to get access to the main Motherlobe area. Then walk to the elevator behind her and activate it.
Once here, your first order of business should probably be to look behind you and to the left to find the Otto-Matic machine. Here, you will be taken through a tutorial which will give you a free rank up and unlock the Associate Intern trophy/achievement, as well as the Core Strength trophy/achievement. You will also get a freebee pin, and equipping it will give you the Pin Drop trophy/achievement. Before you spend the Intern Credit you just got, keep in mind that there will be great use for Levitation III in exploration and acquiring collectibles; so it's probably best to get Levitation II right now and save up future Intern Credits towards getting Levitation III as soon as possible. This first upgrade of a badge will unlock the Extra Credit trophy/achievement.
Once that's done, if you didn't happen to pick up the PSI CARD (1/27) just in front of the machine while approaching it, you might as well grab it now. In various places, you can interact with spots emitting purple bubbles to collect more psitanium. As for what to save for, my first priority would be the Psifold Wallet, followed by a few Psi Pops and Dream Fluffs, then upgrading capacity for those as well with the Fluff Pockets and Mind's Eyelets. Towards the back of the atrium, you can easily find two more PSI CARDs (total 3/27) - one on the ramp below the "Classroom" sign, and one behind the ramp below the "Agents" sign. Before moving on, optional activities include: talking to Lili below the "Nerve Center" sign; examining the frescos of the Psychic Six at the back of the atrium; examining the "History of the Psychonauts" monitors near the "Agents" ramp; and examining the closed doors on either side.
Now enter the Noodle Bowl area on the left side. In here, you can find some vines along the wall to climb, and along the way collect another PSI CARD (4/27). From the top, jump onto the lamp fixture tops; along here, you will find yet another PSI CARD (5/27) and a PSI CHALLENGE MARKER (1/8). In the alcove at the end you will find a supply chest you cannot open yet.
As one last item, you can go up the "Agents" ramp and collect a PSI CARD (6/27) at the end of the hallway. Then, enter the left door and talk to Milla to earn the I'm always here for you, darling! trophy/achievement. Afterwards, collect a PSI CARD (7/27) from the rear right of the room and a SUPPLY CHEST KEY (1/6) from the rear left of the room. Now, take the other door to enter Sasha's lab. In the side chamber, you can find a PSI CHALLENGE MARKER (2/8); and in the part of the room to the rear right behind the glass partition, you can find a PSI CARD (8/27). You can now talk to Sasha if you wish, or examine das Blinkenlights, or the brain tumbler, or the other machine between them. With the supply chest key you just got in hand, you can return to the cafeteria and open the SUPPLY CHEST (1/6) there.
By now, all that's left to do is to head up the Classroom ramp and towards your objective. At the top of the vines to the right, you can grab a PSI CARD (9/27) which will give you enough to go back to the Otto-Matic and get another rank. This should be rank 5. You should also have enough Intern Credits to get the Levitation III upgrade. Now go back to the Classroom hall, and before long, you will be forced into a detour.
First off, look on top of the cabinets to the left to find a PSI CARD (10/27); this can be good practice for using your new Pouncy Ball ability to perform a high jump, even though in this case it's not really necessary. Then burn the Mindswarm poster at the back to reveal a passage. Back here, look on the air vents on the left of the far room to find a SUPPLY CHEST KEY (2/6), then go back to the previous room and open the SUPPLY CHEST (2/6) there. Back in the far room, examine the keypad next to the exit door to get introduced to the Clairvoyance power, and how to swap powers into the control buttons. Use Clairvoyance on Harold; then, use the keypad, walk through the door, and jump up to the rope. Shimmy to the right, and eventually you'll reach Sasha's lab again. After a scene, and getting a new outfit, leave the lab and just outside, you will see an agent with a clairvoyance symbol over his head. Use Clairvoyance and follow the arrow to collect a jackpot.
Just a bit down the hall, you will get a side quest to collect mission critical Psychonauts assets. For the first of these, turn around and interact with the name plate on the door to the left (next to the water cooler) to get the PSYCHONAUTS NAME PLAQUE. On the way out, you can talk to Sam at the aquarium if you like. Out in the atrium, return to the cafeteria, and on the left side of the buffet counter, you can collect a DAY OLD SUSHI item for the scavenger hunt. Also in the cafeteria, you can find a rat to use Clairvoyance on to collect a jackpot.
Back out in the atrium, you will find you can now enter the Nerve Center. Once inside, you can find a PSI CARD (11/27) floating on one of the chairs around the central table. Now look around and you should be able to spot a bright green monitor. Interact with it and another monitor in the room will turn bright green. Keep following and interacting with the green monitors, and eventually one on the outside ring will dispense ASTRONAUT ICE CREAM which puts you one step closer to finishing the scavenger hunt. Finally, look back at the entrance and collect the PSI CARD (12/27) under one of the staircases.
From here, take the other exit to Truman Zanotto's office. Before turning with the water channel, look at the far wall to get a PSI CARD (13/27). In the main part of the office, collect a PSI CARD (14/27) from atop some shelves on the far wall, and a SUPPLY CHEST KEY (3/6) from atop some shelves on the left wall. For the second one, you will probably need to use your Pouncy Ball abi
