Here are some of the top Pokémon you can snag pretty early in the game that will really help you out:

• Pidgey: You'll find these guys all over the place, starting on Route 1. They evolve into Pidgeotto and then Pidgeot, giving you a fast Flying-type attacker. Great for dealing with Brock's Rock-types early on and useful for navigating later routes.
• Rattata: Another common sight on Route 1, Rattata evolves into Raticate pretty quickly. They're fast and hit hard, making them excellent early-game sweepers. Plus, they learn a lot of useful moves through leveling up.
• Abra: Keep an eye out for Abra on Route 24 and 25, though they can be tricky to catch because they teleport away. If you manage to snag one, it's totally worth it.
