Guide to Cycling Road in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen: Catch Snorlax, battle Bikers and Gamblers, and train your Pokemon on Route 17.

First, Fly to Celadon City. From there, head West to where you got Fly. If you don't have Fly, cut the bush to get it. You'll find a sleeping Pokemon. Prepare Pokeballs and play the PokeFlute to wake it up. This is Snorlax.

Snorlax Encounter:

Snorlax uses Rest, which restores its HP and status but puts it to sleep. It can still attack while sleeping. Your best bet is to throw Pokeballs. You only have two chances to catch it, so do not kill it or run away.

After Snorlax is dealt with, use the Itemfinder on its spot to find Leftovers. Then, proceed to Cycling Road. You will need your Bicycle. Before leaving the building, go upstairs to find Oak's assistant. If you have 40 or more Pokemon, they will give you an Amulet Coin.

Trainers on Cycling Road:

  • Biker 1: Level 29 Grimer and Koffing
  • Biker 2: Three Level 28 Machops
  • Biker 3: Level 29 Machop and Mankey
  • Biker 4: Level 33 Weezing
  • Biker 5: Level 29 Machop and Mankey

After the Bikers, there's a downhill stretch. You will automatically go down unless you press B to stop. There are more trainers:

  • Left Lane Trainer: Level 28 Koffing and Weezing
  • Right Lane Trainer: Level 29 Machop and Machamp
  • Circular Biker: Level 29 Mankey and Primeape

Cycling Road is a good training spot, with Raticates being the most common. You cannot fish here.

Trainers on Route 17:

A lake splits the path. Trainers are on both sides:

  • Left Path Trainer 1: Level 33 Muk
  • Left Path Trainer 2: Two Level 26 Mankeys, a Machop, and a Machamp
  • Left Path Trainer 3: Level 29 Weezing and Muk
  • Right Path Trainer 1: Two Level 29 Voltorbs
  • Right Path Trainer 2: Level 33 Machoke
  • Right Path Trainer 3: Level 29 Primeape and Machoke

The last trainer on Cycling Road is between the two paths intersecting again:

  • Final Trainer: Three Level 25 Koffings and two Weezings

In the building at the end of Cycling Road, go upstairs. A kid will offer to trade a Golduck (FireRed) or Slowbro (LeafGreen) for a special Lickitung. Continue to Fuchsia City.
