    Defeat the first Red Spiny. Grab the [POW Block] and [Iron Jump] stickers from the ?-Blocks. Jump up the steps and grab the [Hammer] on the wall. Continue north.

    Defeat the Red Spiny with a pre-emptive hammer followed by another attack. Grab the shell from the ?-Block and continue eastward.

    In the next area, avoid engaging every Spiny Egg thrown by the Lakitu. Continue making your way up, grabbing the [Worn-Out Hammer] and [Hammer] during your ascent.

    About midway up, grab the star on the ground to become invincible. Any Spinies you run into will instantly faint and drop a coin. Grab the [Iron Jump] on your way up and proceed to the next area to the right.

    Continue eastward. Grab the [Worn-Out Jump] followed by the [Worn-Out Hammer]. Hammer on the tree until it falls, creating a bridge. Obtain the [Shiny Hurlhammer]. Take the eastern exit again.

    In the new area, take the [Worn-Out Jump] sticker. Keep pressing left. The Spiny at the bottom may release [Spike Helmets]. Backtrack and take the northern path.

    Head north. Fell the tree if you haven't already and grab the [White Gate].

    Make your way to the gate void encountered earlier and Paperize to restore the gate. Freeing the Toad unlocks the Whammino Mountain shop.

    Enter the Goomba Fortress. Defeat the first two Goombas. Save, heal, and unfurl the Bowser tape on the northern door, though it cannot be passed yet.

    Backtrack inside and hit the center block to go east.

    In this new area, deal with the falling bombs by using hammer attacks. Hit the two ?-Blocks for a [Shell] and [Baahammer]. Grab the [Fire Flower] and [Ice Flower] farther along.
