Learn how to complete 'The Catch of a Lifetime!' side quest in Monster Hunter Wilds. Find the Whopper location, use the Tuff Joint bait, and master the fishing minigame.
Walkthrough
- 1Speak to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp to accept 'The Catch of a Lifetime!' side quest. She will ask you to catch a Whopper, which is any large fish requiring the fishing minigame. She provides Duster Rig and Tuff Joint baits.
- 2Find a hidden camp to the east of the Great Lake in Area 17 by climbing vines on debris. Use this as your base of operations.
- 3Inside the hidden camp, change the time of day to Morning and the environment to Plenty.
- 4Travel to the southwestern edge of Area 17, between the two Loch Ruins environmental traps. Look for large fish splashing off the map.
- 5Equip your fishing rod, select the Tuff Joint Bait, and cast your line near the large fish.
- 6To get the fish to bite, you may need to wiggle the line or reel it in slowly.
- 7Once a fish bites, a new minigame will start. Aim your rod in the direction the fish is swimming.
- 8If the fish jumps, press the direction of its jump and then press / to restrain it.
- 9When the fish slows down, move your stick up and down to reel it in.
- 10The fish caught with the recommended bait will likely be a Tuna or Gastronome Tuna, which fulfills the quest requirement.
- 11If fish do not appear, leave the area and return, ensuring the time is Morning and the environment is Plenty.
