??? \- 'Secret Cow Level'

Learn how to unlock the Secret Cow Level in Minecraft Dungeons by collecting 9 Runes scattered across the base game's levels. Includes boss fight tips.

This is the sixth and final Secret Level of the base game. It is the only Secret Level that isn't tied directly to any one level.

To unlock the 'Secret Cow Level', you'll need to collect 9 Runes. You'll find one in each of the main Levels, not including the Tutorial Level, Squid Coast.

To use the Runes, you'll need to beat the game on Default, by defeating the Arch-Illager at Obsidian Pinnacle. Once you've done this, go to the right of your house at your Camp. You'll find a piston launch pad. Use it to cross the gap, and you'll find a broken Nether Portal on the other side.

Through the trees southwest (left) of the Nether Portal, you'll find a hidden path that leads to the Church. You can lower the drawbridge by flipping the nearby lever, giving you easy access via a path near your training dummies.

Entering the Church, head all the way to the back. You'll be able to place your collected Runes here. Once you've gathered all nine, you'll unlock the Secret Cow Level, where you can kill Mooshrooms all day (along with a Mooshroom Monstrosity).

Runes

Rune 1 - Creeper Woods

In the area where you rescue the Villagers, you'll find a stone platform nearby. Stepping on one of the stones will trigger a door, and you'll find the Rune inside. Note - You can actually accidentally get this Rune while playing on Default, long before ever defeating the Arch-Illager. I accidentally somehow got the Rune during one of my early playthroughs of this level, weeks before beating the game.

Rune 2 - Soggy Swamp

Near the end of this level, you'll find a button at the base of a stone tower/pillar, to the right of the exit. The button is disguised as a mushroom. Pushing it will open a nearby door.

Rune 3 - Cacti Canyon

Just outside of the small, enclosed area with the Blue Key Golem, you'll find a button hidden near a palm tree to the left. Pressing it will open a door inside the Blue Key Golem area, where you'll find the third Rune.

Rune 4 - Redstone Mines

You'll find a button near a flat section of wall, in the area where you free Villagers a second time. Pressing the button will open a door set into the wall.

Rune 5 - Pumpkin Pastures

Along the castle wall (above the Secret Chest that appears if you drop down below, alongside the wall), you'll find a button. Pressing it will open a door set into the stone wall at the end of the rampart.

Rune 6 - Fiery Forge

This is found just inside the mine, in the area with the broken Redstone Golem on the hill/stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, you'll find a lever on the wall, that will open a nearby hidden door.

Rune 7 - Desert Temple

In the area with the Gold Key Golem, you'll find a lever hiding behind the back palm tree. Flip it to open a nearby door.

Rune 8 - Highblock Halls

In the large area with the Well and the Key Golem, you'll find a lever (not hidden) near the bridge/overlook near the center area of this section. It's along the back wall, in plain sight. If you hug that wall, you'll find it easily.

Rune 9 - Obsidian Pinnacle

Inside the library, you'll find a section of map you can't reach, near the end of the area. Along this wall, you'll find a book on the shelf that can be interacted with to open a nearby door. You'll find the final Rune inside.

Unlocking the Secret Cow Level

Once you have all 9 Runes, return to the Church and place them. A door will open, and inside you'll find the Map for the '???' Level. Once you've claimed it, you'll be able to access it on your World Map.

Fighting the Mooshroom Monstrosity (Boss)

The Secret Cow Level is the best place to grind for EXP. You'll find lots of Mooshroom to kill, and you'll even find a Mooshroom boss (the Mooshroom Monstrosity). This boss is a lot like the Redstone Monstrosity, but you don't have any Cores to overload. So, you'll just have to rely on your Artifacts and weapons, especially your Bow. You'll want to keep your distance while fighting this boss, to avoid the projectiles it will shoot. Be sure to equip some good gear, because this will be a decently tough battle!
