Learn how to achieve Star Ranks in Mario Kart Wii Grand Prix, including requirements for 1, 2, and 3 stars.

To earn Star Ranks in Mario Kart Wii, your performance in the Grand Prix is evaluated, with up to three stars awarded per cup. Earning one star in many cups is necessary to obtain all unlockables.

To achieve three stars in a cup, you must win all four races, accumulate 60 points, and set very fast lap times across all laps. Avoid falling off the track or hitting walls, as this will negatively impact your time.

Note that 60 points are not required to earn a single star. You can afford to lose a few points, and still achieve one star with a decent time and a first-place finish.

To display stars next to your name in online play, you must complete every cup with stars. Each cup earning one star contributes one star to your overall online rank, two stars for two, and three stars for three. If you have three stars in all cups except one, you will not achieve an overall three-star rank until that final cup also has three stars.
