Basic Gameplay

In Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, you control a hero undertaking raids to complete objectives like surviving winter's curse or defeating powerful lords and champions. After completing objectives within a time limit, you'll summon and battle a boss. The game features an overhead view where enemies constantly attack. Your hero starts with a basic attack and a weapon skill. Collecting XP crystals from defeated enemies allows your hero to level up, offering choices between new skills granted by gods or from the hero's own potential skillset. Autocast skills and attacks activate automatically, leaving you to manage movement, weapon skills, and dashes. Passive skills provide bonuses or trigger effects upon specific conditions, such as taking damage.

Controls

The default controls for the game are as follows:

*The attack mode is set to Smart by default. The attack button is only needed when attack mode is set to Manual.
†Aiming is set to automatic by default. Aiming controls are only used in manual aiming mode.

Tips and Tricks for Endgame Builds

• Earn gold and soulstones during raids to purchase new weapons for heroes or activate virtues from the main menu. Virtues offer various bonuses and beneficial effects. Virtues granted by gods apply to all heroes, while hero-specific virtues only benefit that particular hero.
• At the end of each raid, an information screen displays the DPS of attacks and autocast skills. It is advisable to focus on acquiring three high-DPS skills. Skills like Thunderstorm and Sentinel, offered by Thor, are excellent choices due to their auto-targeting capabilities, dealing full damage to multiple enemies if enough are in range.
• While high DPS skills are important, do not neglect autocast skills that help clear the area around your hero or momentarily halt enemy advances. Freya's Divine Wave is a prime example, with its circular waves and weak knockback effect that can temporarily stop most enemies.
