Navigate the treacherous path to Floneia Citadel in I Am Setsuna. This guide covers Purikka, the Frost Caves, and the challenging Reaper boss fight. Learn optimal party setups and strategies.

Alright, so you've made it to Purikka, and the first thing you'll notice is meeting up with that Magic Consortium guy from the ship. He's going to tell you about a shortcut to Floneia Citadel through some caves, but first, you need to chat with the captain back in town to get the entrance unlocked. He also mentions a few other folks in town – a blacksmith, an apothecary, and a chef. They're all hanging out in the pub to your left as you enter the village, so it's a good idea to go say hi.

Before you do anything else, head over to the Consortium member. He's your go-to for selling off all those monster materials you've been collecting. Just be careful not to sell anything that's marked in green, as those are usually for something important later on. Selling monster drops lets you buy new Spritnites, which unlock new techs for your characters. Keep in mind that each Spritnite needs specific materials, so try to defeat enemies in different ways to get a variety of drops.

If you've got the materials, some really useful Spritnites to grab are Aura, Wall, Lightning, and Protect. Now, head into the main part of town, go left, and into the first building you see. You'll find the NPCs the Consortium member mentioned. Before you talk to them, find the waitress in the black dress. If you've managed to collect a Purikka Cobbler, Square Onion, Amber Rock Salt, and Golden Peppercorn (you find these by checking glowing spots in various areas and on the world map), she'll give you the Scrumptious Salad recipe. Give that recipe to the chef at the north end of the room, and you'll be able to buy it.

The Apothecary is just a regular shopkeeper selling useful items, while the Blacksmith has new gear. Look out for a new weapon for Aeterna and a bunch of Talismans. The Starry Will is a pretty good one for Endir, especially since he can equip both Aura and Wall Spritnites – those are super handy techs to have.

Once you're done shopping, feel free to explore the rest of the village. The only other thing worth checking out is in the house in the upper right corner; there's a chest inside with Ether x5.

That house also happens to be where Captain Freyja lives. She's the captain of the resistance, but she's not going to help you right away. Instead, she'll ask you to meet her soldiers outside. You'll have to fight them, but don't worry, it shouldn't be too tough. After the fight, she decides to join you, but she needs to do one last patrol. She'll offer you her place to rest while you wait. Head back to her house and wait until you hear something, then go to the village entrance to find out what's going on.

After all that, you decide to go after Nidr. Head back to the world map, use a Tent to heal up, save your game, and then head back into Serendale. It seems Nidr is up to something, so you'll need to chase after him. Make your way to the save point (if you need a reminder, check the paragraphs before the Purikka section for its location). You should see Nidr standing just northwest of it. As you're talking to Nidr, the mysterious person with the scythe shows up, and guess what? It's time for a boss fight!

BOSS - Reaper

This fight is pretty straightforward because the Reaper only has one move: Scythe Attack. This makes it easy to keep track of when to heal and when to attack. The Reaper hits for around 40 damage and can be quite fast, so keep a close eye on everyone's HP, especially if he hits multiple party members. The usual strategy of keeping your HP high and attacking during Momentum Mode, particularly with X-Strike, works well here.

Once you finally defeat the Reaper, he'll retreat with a little help from Nidr. Head back to the village and talk to Freyja. She'll agree to help you get going. Restock if you need to, then leave the village and head northwest towards the Frost Caves. When you reach the entrance, it turns out Freyja isn't joining you after all – it's Nidr! This brings your party up to four members, but remember, you can only bring three into battle.

Setsuna can heal with Cure, and if you picked up Lightning, she's your only character with a magical attack, which will be super useful for the next boss. Endir should have Aura (a group heal) and Wall, both excellent abilities, plus he's physically strong. That leaves Aeterna and Nidr. Aeterna isn't the strongest, but she's fast and can use Time Kill to net you more items after battles. Nidr, on the other hand, is about as strong as Endir, maybe even stronger, and his Aerial Strike tech has some serious knockback.
