Complete the Heir to the Throne mission in i am setsuna. Includes answers to Ithees Ruins puzzles and strategy for the Rhydderch boss.
- 1From the teleporter in Ithees Ruins, follow the path to a pedestal on the left. Hit the switch to turn a bridge. Follow the path to the bottom and hit the other pedestal to access a chest containing the Aureole Chakram.
- 2Head back south and take the stairs west, then go south to find a chest with Hi-Ether x4.
- 3Return to the east side of the turning bridge and go north. In the northeast corner, find a chest with the Inferno Eye Talisman.
- 4Follow the other path to a section with a circling area. A mysterious voice will ask a question. The answer is “He was unjust.” This allows access to the second floor.
- 5Hit the pedestal to go north, then hit the switch across the bridge to make it horizontal. Head north to find a chest with Cabin x3 on the west side.
- 6Go west and south, cross that bridge, head east, then north. Cross another bridge to access a chest with Alfadir Spritnite.
- 7Press the pedestal you passed earlier. Cross the bridge to the north. This path leads to another question. The answer is “Don’t eliminate her”.
- 8Ascend to the third floor and follow the path. Ignore the first pedestal and press the second one you encounter. Return to hit the first switch and go straight north to find a chest with the Shining Oracle Talisman.
- 9Go west in the previous small area, cross the bridge, and find a pedestal to the south. This extends a bridge back to the beginning of the floor (a shortcut).
- 10Ignore the pedestal up the stairs to the west. Follow the path south to find a chest with Athenian Water x5.
- 11Cross the bridge without touching the pedestal to find another one that creates a bridge needed shortly. Hit the previously mentioned switch to turn the pathway north.
- 12Cross the northern pathway. You will encounter the third question. The answer is “Aeterna”. You can now proceed to the fourth and final floor.
- 13At the first split on the fourth floor, go straight north and open the chest for Mechadeus, a new weapon for Endir.
- 14Return to the previous split and go east. Ignore the first and second pedestals, hitting the third. Then hit the other two to create a bridge to the east.
- 15As soon as you cross this bridge, go south to find a chest containing the Transcendence Spritnite for Julienne.
- 16Follow the other path to reach the fourth and final question. The answer is “No”. Climb up to the next floor to face the boss.
BOSS - Rhydderch
Rhydderch can be a tough boss due to his ability to summon enemies and his later attacks. Initially, he is accompanied by two Summoniels and two Summoned Deermons. The Deermon use Lightning (60-70 damage), and Summoniels use Feather Attack (multiple hits, ~20 damage each). Get rid of these weaker enemies quickly, as five on three is disadvantageous. Endir and Nidr can use Blowbeat, or use techs like Cyclone that hit multiple enemies since they are close together.
Rhydderch is primarily a spellcaster. His spells like Demi, Flare, and Holy Light deal 250+ damage. He can also use Drain (around 200 damage, healing him for half), and Osmose (drains MP). Around 50% HP, he begins each turn with Spell Stream, allowing him to attack twice. This is dangerous if you lack sufficient HP. Having a good stock of Athenian Waters is recommended. Setsuna is useful due to Ribbon Chakram, which nullifies status ailments like Stop, an attack he gains later.
- Correctly answering the questions in Ithees Ruins is required to progress. Answering incorrectly sends you back to the beginning of the floor.
- If using Endir, save his SP for Wall to use Momentum on the entire party.
- Always keep your HP topped off.
- If you have trouble with Rhydderch's Spell Stream, ensure your HP is high enough to survive two powerful attacks.
- Purikka Cobbler Salad can provide helpful extra HP.
- If Rhydderch has status ailments, it gives you time to apply buffs.
- Cure the Stop status ailment with a Panacea.
